46 Time-Saving Products For Parents Who Are Just Plain Tired

Pat yourself on the back for being so efficient and go take a nap.

    1. A leave-in conditioning spray for helping reduce the amount of time spent fighting your curly-haired and tender-headed tot when you say it's time to brush their hair. This spray is great for adults too and harnesses the hydrating, reparative, and detangling abilities of vitamin B5, jojoba oil, keratin, and more.

before and after photos of a 14-month-old with natural hair whose curls look soft and moisturized after using the conditioner
before and after photo of a child whose curls are more defined and less frizzy after the conditioner is applied

Reviewers say this spray will leave wavy or curly hair (from 2a–4c hair) shiny, soft, and bouncy.

Promising review: "This is a lifesaver!! My 2-year-old has very curly hair and has never had a haircut. He used to cry and fight me when I would comb out his hair while using conditioner. Now I can do it so much faster with no tears. It forms lovely curls, smells fantastic, and I can use it on my child with straight hair too. I am going to start using it on myself!" —Kat

Get it from Amazon for $7.99.

    2. And a detangling brush if hair brushing typically triggers the tears 😭. Not anymore! This brush has special silicone bristles that are designed to gently separate knots without pulling and breaking strands.

Reviewers swear this brush works on all hair types: straight, wavy, or curly (from 3a–4c hair).

Promising review: "Brushing my hair without pain has been a lifelong struggle. As a young girl I would get into screaming matches with my mother over her brushing my hair and we would practically have to empty a bottle of detangler spray to get me through the experience — still with gritted teeth. So naturally, I was extremely skeptical of a brush that claimed it would detangle knots with no pain. I have rarely seen a product that is so accurately advertised. I am in absolute awe of this brush. What is usually an hour-long chore to brush out my hair with lots of tears took five minutes and was completely painless. I have used the brush in the shower and on dry hair and it really makes the process quick and painless. I would absolutely recommend this hairbrush to anyone and everyone. It is very lightweight and durable." —Barbara Rosenthal

    4. A durable folding board that'll spare you from having to fold — and then inevitably refold — your shirts, sweaters, dresses, and pajamas. You'll fly through that laundry pile so fast you might even have time to sip a hot mug of coffee and watch a show while your little one naps.

This is the full-size version, which works best for adult clothes. If you're trying to save time folding kid's clothes, check out the mini version.

Promising review: "I try to fold my shirts neatly, but I'm always a little off and it takes a long time to do it by hand. Really enjoying this folder; it saves me half an hour every time I fold laundry :)" —Bo

    5. A slide away storage bag to make cleanup less painful than stepping on a Lego. It has a built-in mat for playtime and then closes in on itself with the pull of a drawstring, corralling toys within so everything is put away before you even have time to finish singing "The Cleanup Song."

the bag lying on its side with the mat open and toys on it

Promising review: "For years, my kids have been dumping their Legos onto a blanket. Pieces constantly fall off and get lost, and it's a pain to get everything back into the plastic storage bin when they're finished. (And, of course, that job falls to me because they're too little to lift the blanket by themselves.) When this bin arrived, I dumped all of the Legos into it, and then gave it a try. It worked EXACTLY as advertised! I dumped the Legos out onto the fabric, then grabbed the handles and effortlessly dumped everything back into the bin. Now, my kids are able to dump out the Legos all on their own, play with them to their hearts' content, and then put them all away again when they're done. The border keeps most of the pieces on the fabric (a few escaping is unavoidable), and the bright solid color helps them find the piece they need more easily. They're able to put everything away without my help, which is awesome! Plus, when everything is put away, the bin tucks away nicely in the corner. It even matches the fabric/color of our large toy bin! I really wish I had something like this when I was a kid, but I'm incredibly grateful to have it now, as it's making my parenting life MUCH easier!" —Amazon Customer

I toss the bag in the trash after use and will just run a wet rag around the inside of the pot for good measure. Never have a problem with holes or burning." —Ashley Matthews

    8. Plus a Dawn dish spray if post-dinner dishwashing is a time-consuming affair. Just spray it on your dirty cookware (looking at you, "nonstick" skillet that everything sticks to), let it sit, and then rinse off. That's it! No scrubbing necessary.

the dirty baking sheet with white cleaning foam on it
    a dirty baking sheet
the baking sheet after the foam was washed off and almost all the stains are gone

Promising review: "This product is the bomb!! I use this all the time and it truly has cut my dish washing by half. I put the lasagna pan in the sink, give it a good spray all around, let it sit for a bit, then rinse and wipe it down. Now, I will be honest and tell you that it is not a miracle spray — it's not going to get every last bit of baked on food off of your pan. What it does do is take off the majority of it and then with very minimal scrubbing you are able to clean the rest off. For pans where it is not quite so crusty, then it does indeed rinse it clean after letting it sit for a bit. I wish it had a bit of a nicer scent, but that's my only complaint." —Barbara A. Daugherty

Get a bottle and three refills from Amazon for $17.50.

    9. A bleach-free, no-scrub weekly shower spray so you can reclaim your weekends instead of spending half the day soaping up and rinsing down your shower. Just spray, rinse it clean the next day, and you'll be amazed to see those hard water stains on your shower door are *poof* gone.

Before: a dirty shower floor; after: the clean shower floor
    Amazon

Promising review: "Here it is, the single most time-saving cleaning product we have. I waited until everyone finished with showers then sprayed the cleaner on to the walls, floors and shower doors. Later that night I sprayed it off and watched the soap scum, grime spots, and water lines wash off and leave clean white tile walls (the kind I've spent too long trying to maintain...too no avail.). The solution has a mild odor so do be prepared to open a window, but the result was astounding. It cut through everything on the walls and floor, aside from some deep grout stain but the ease of spraying, leaving for a few hours then spraying off has renewed my hope in one day having a day off that does not include rubber gloves, sore knees, and shirts soaked in Clorox. A time saver that is a lifesaver!" —Jordan Wyatt

These liners catch all the sauce-y, sticky, crumbly bits so you can make all your fave (but messy) recipes without a second thought about how annoying cleaning will be.

Promising review: "I bought these because I was tired of cleaning the whole air fryer container. These were bought on a whim for both mine and my boyfriend's parents, who each have an air fryer. They work great, keeping all greases and crumbs inside, and make it easier to clean. The only bad thing (and this may just be me) is the ridges/ripples on the bottom of the inside of the liner. When you try to wash it in the sink, don’t put the stream of water right on those unless you want to take a small bath. Other than that, these are fantastic. My boyfriend also says that it seems to make everything crispier, and we love that." Jordan Hixson

It gave me a nice pinkish reddish tone like my lips are two shades darker, and I love it! It looks very natural and perfect! PLEASE keep these in stock, I want to keep these forever! I applied once hours ago, and also applied a different clear lip balm over it later on, and I still have color even. It seems to last so long even through eating and drinking. It doesn’t smudge off and looks so cute! I’m so happy with these! I love the smell and the color so much! Much better and longer lasting than a lipgloss I had!" —Lin

And since we're talking about mess-free drinking, a pack of dishwasher-safe silicone pouch lids because you're tired of seeing a quarter of your kid's fruit pouch end up on the floor (and their clothes, and the couch, and the car seat...which you now have to clean). Inside the lid is a flow-control valve designed to stop spilling (even when little hands are squeezing the pouch) while still allowing them to suck.

    38. Ninja 12-in-1 double oven if you're cooking two different meals one after the other. This life-changing gadget (it seriously changed *my* life) allows you to cook two meals (or a main and a side, two sides, etc.) at different temperatures and for different lengths of time = you can cook fish and veggies (for you) in one section and chicken nuggets and tater tots (for the picky eater) in the other. GENIUS!

the double oven on BuzzFeed editor's counter
    Melanie Aman / BuzzFeed

When I first read about this product, I thought it was cool but not something I'd get a lot of use out of. I'm only cooking for two people and we're eating the same meal. This seems better for busy parents. And it's pretty bulky to use it only as a toaster. Boy did I underestimate this double oven! Case in point: Recently, I planned to cook a chicken and broccoli sheet pan dinner, and I also really wanted to use the curly fries in my freezer — but the two dishes needed to bake at different temperatures. Before this double oven came into my life, I would've put both trays in the oven at the same time but suffered through soft, slightly soggy fries (instead of fries that were perfectly crispy and crunchy) because I was too impatient to cook them separately and I didn't want to burn the chicken and broccoli, which needed to cook at a lower temp. I've also used this compact oven to cook things like garlic bread, because 1) it takes forever for my regular oven to preheat, and 2) using the regular oven makes my kitchen really hot, which doesn't seem worth it for two measly slices of bread. The list of things you can do with this oven could fill a book, so I highly recommend checking it out to learn more!

It's a huge timesaver and made perfect, easy-to-peel, hard-boiled eggs in about 15 minutes. It even has an alarm to let you know when they're finished. Promising review: "I got tired of cleaning the bottom of my oven out after every drip and spill, or running the 'oven clean' option, which uses up so much energy and makes my house HOT during the process. I used to have foil on the bottom of the oven to help with spills, and that improved things greatly — but then you have to replace the foil after a while. I had to cut them to size, which was easy to do with a simple pair of household scissors. Then I placed them in the oven (they look nice!), and I waited for it to get messy. I cooked something super messy and finally needed to clean the liner. It was SO easy; I put it in the sink and used my sink sprayer and everything immediately slid right off the liner. No problem! I have a double oven, so I was glad this pack came with more than one. I have one in each oven and one on standby in case I need it. I know that having a dirty oven isn't the worst thing in the world, but if it matters to you, try these!" —Hpg

These are designed for ages 6–12 months.

Promising review: "These are a game changer! Sadly I only discovered these with my third child, but now that I have found them, they’re a baby shower staple. These little guys are fantastic at keeping baby socks on! They don’t slip off, the elastic doesn’t cut into baby’s foot, and the colors are cute too! When our little guy stretched his 0-6 month pair out, we went ahead and sized up to get through the rest of the winter sock-wearing months. As someone who put my other two kiddos in footie pajamas whenever possible just to avoid losing socks, I cannot say enough positive things about these. Buy them, buy them now!" —Jess M.
