I thought the conversation was really fascinating, and it also got me thinking about something really rude a date once said to me about my job. I worked in a customer service call center at the time, and they acted like it was sooo beneath them (big eyeroll). So if you've had a similar experience, I'd love to hear from you.
Maybe your date made a belittling comment, like calling your graphic design work "doodling and coloring." Needless to say, they didn't get a call back for a second date.
Or perhaps they hit you with an insulting and out-of-date stereotype. Just because you work in the restaurant industry, that doesn't mean you have a "kid's job", and it certainly doesn't mean you're not smart.
Or maybe they couldn't believe you even make money doing your job, even though you're pretty sure you make more than them. Freelance writer is sooo not "a fancy way of saying unemployed."
