Philippine President Pardons First Prisoner Four Days After Death
Philippine president Benigno Aquino III has pardoned his first convict on July 19, 2011. Unfortunately, inmate Mariano Umbrero died four days earlier on July 15 from cancer. Aquino announced his clemency, not aware that the prisoner has died, during a press conference.
