Comedy, Friendship, Fame And Tequila!

Move over George Clooney and Rande Gerber! Superstar comedians Ron White and Alex Reymundo have branded a tequila that is smooth, delicious and arriving on doorsteps all across the U.S. Here are 10 things you probably didn't know about Ron, Alex and how their friendship grew to include an award-winning tequila company.

1. It All Started Over 30 Years Ago.

It all started in 1986 when Ron White walked into a comedy club in Arlington, Texas, to do his first open-mic night. The bartender on-duty that evening was Alex Reymundo. Ron ordered a shot of tequila, Alex poured it- and the two have been close friends ever since. Little did the two of them know that fateful night- nearly 30 years later- they'd both have successful comedy careers and own a tequila company together.

2. Ron & Alex Hit The Road.

While Alex gives credit to Ron for encouraging him to go into stand-up comedy, the duo teamed up from 1987-1990 to form their own "Joy to the World" comedy tour. Broke, but happy, the pair traveled the U.S. performing at various clubs while having fun and spreading joy...not to mention, building a lifelong friendship.

3. Alex Reymundo Joins 'The Latin Kings of Comedy' Tour.

Over a decade of hard work, writing jokes and traveling the country pays off for Mexican-American comedian, Alex Reymundo, when he joins the original Latin Kings of Comedy tour, in 2002. Alex joined other comedic greats, Cheech Marin, George Lopez, Paul Rodriguez and Joey Medina for one of the funniest line-ups ever. The concert film from this tour is still hailed as one of the most raw and humorous around.

4. Ron White Joins 'The Blue Collar Comedy' Tour.

The same night that Ron met Alex in 1986, he also met a comedian named Jeff Foxworthy who gave him some helpful advice as soon as he stepped off the stage, "Hey Ron, put the punchline at the END of the joke."

That valuable piece of advice would come in handy for White, who continued to tour small venues until joining the 'Blue Collar Comedy' tour in 2003. White joined legends Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry The Cable Guy- for one of the most popular and longest running comedy tours in history. It even sparked a movie of the same title. The tour would finally end in 2006.

5. Together Again.

It was 2008 before Ron and Alex would tour together again. Many years and many successes made their second go-around a bit nicer than the first tour they embarked on nearly 20 years earlier. The pair still knew how to have fun together on the road and definitely still knew how to make people laugh.

6. Jalisco, Mexico.

Bordering the Pacific Ocean, the western state of Jalisco, Mexico, is best known for originating two of the best things on Earth...mariachi music and tequila. It was here that Alex and Ron would vacation and run across an 80 year-old small batch distillery in 2011. The comedians were in awe at how pure and amazing the tequila tasted. Once they learned this particular tequila had no presence in the United States- they decided to change that. Though it took several years for the original distillery owners to warm up to the idea of going broader- Reymundo and White took a serious interest in how the superior spirit was made, bottled and shipped.

7. The Name.

So, how did the name Number Juan Tequila come about? It was pretty easy for the comedians to decide on the name. "Number Juan" was a punchline to one of Reymundo's jokes, referring to a Mexican race car driver- driving the "number juan (one) car." The name stuck and is used all over their website as a marketing spin and play on words.

8. The Awards.

Officially launching their tequila company and taking ownership in 2013, Alex Reymundo (Founder and CEO) and Ron White (Founder and President), have been overwhelmed and honored by the awards their tequila has already won.

To date, Number Juan tequila has competed and won one double gold medal; six gold medals; two silver medals; two bronze medals; and a best in show for their unique and beautiful packaging.

9. Everyone Is Drinking Number Juan.

Well, not everyone JUST yet, but it's bound to happen as the company is growing by leaps and bounds. Sales have nearly tripled in the past year alone, as word spreads about the high quality tequila. It is available online and ships to your front door. As for the distillery in Mexico? It's growing as well, with plans to expand on the horizon.
