It's Time To Settle This Once And For All - Does The Nightmare Before Christmas Count As A Halloween Movie AND A Christmas Movie?

It's basically a two-for-one...right?

Okay, so for those of you who may not know me (which is probably all of you except for a select few. Hi, mom!), I absolutely LOVE The Nightmare Before Christmas. Like, I will watch this movie 5 times in a row in the middle of summer with no problem, singing along with opening song word-for-word.

"This is Halloween" is my jam and I am willing to have a heated discussion with anyone who disagrees with me when I say that this song should be the National Anthem for the spooky season.

My love for this film is so strong that I have come to the conclusion that this movie is appropriate for both the Halloween season and the Christmas season.

It literally implies this in the title of the movie, in my opinion.

Let me tell you why The Nightmare Before Christmas is both a Halloween Movie AND a Christmas movie. Please take a seat.

1. The beginning of the movie is the Halloween portion of the movie.

The beginning of the movie sets the scene as the the night of Halloween with the introduction to all of the creepy, crawly creatures people associate with the spooky season, such as Jack Skellington. Jack Skellington, for those of you who may not know, is the literal Pumpkin King of the Pumpkin Patch (and if we're being honest, the King of the whole Halloween season).

2. Then we move onto the Christmas portion of the movie.

Jack ends up discovering the beauty that is Christmas Town after falling down into the magical Christmas tree he found in the middle of the woods. He becomes so enamored with the place and the thought of the Christmas season that he decides that he is now going to be in charge of Christmas (sorry Santa, maybe next year). He then proceeds to bring this idea to his spooky friends and they all agree that he has a GREAT idea.

ANNND THEN WE GET TO THE BEST PART OF THE MOVIE, IMHO!!!

The movie then moves on to Jack and his friends getting into the Christmas spirit, as they add their own Halloween twist to everything. THIS IS WHERE THE MOVIE IS BOTH A HALLOWEEN MOVIE AND A CHRISTMAS MOVIE. We have Halloween characters doing Christmas things, all while bringing a Halloween element to the winter holiday, therefore creating the best mix possible of the two seasons.

Unfortunately, there are some people who would believe otherwise. They would rather this movie stick to the spooky season and leave the winter season movies to Macaulay Culkin and the Grinch.

First of all, let me state that I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Second of all...it is my opinion that these people are 100% WRONG. There is no doubt in my mind that this movie counts as a two-for-one deal on holiday movies. ~Sigh~ although I suppose I shouldn't hate on anyone's opinion, as long as we all agree that The Nightmare Before Christmas is a GREAT movie.
