99% of all Marian University freshmen receive financial aid to help pay for college. You can receive a scholarship, grant, or even take out a loan. File the FAFSA and talk with the Office of Financial Aid about options.

Myth!

Marian has a 13:1 student to faculty ratio, meaning your professors have more time to get to know you and support you.

You definitely won’t have room for everything you own - so try to prioritize a little. However, with the help of organizers, shelves, and other storage containers, you’ll be able to have everything you need.

True!

In college, you decide your class schedule. Are you a morning person or do you want to take classes in the evening? Choose the major and class topic that sounds the most interesting--communication in popular culture, astronomy, or graphic design—the options are endless!

College is different for everyone; often students change their minds several times before they settle on a major. Your academic advisor will help you decide which major fits with your interests, goals, and strengths.

This is a myth!

Many students worry about the dreaded freshman fifteen when moving to college, but there are plenty of ways to stay healthy. At Marian University, students have the opportunity to stay active and relieve stress in the new, state-of-the-art fitness center—for free. There are also healthy and delicious food options in the Dining Commons.

Students typically dedicate more time to class and studying in college than high school, and there are plenty of (free!) ways to stay on top of your homework. Students can receive help at the peer tutoring center, speaking studio, and the writing center. There are also great spots to study on Marian University's campus such as the library, Alumni Hall, and the Evans Center - which has personal study rooms you can use!

You will make friendships that will last a lifetime! There are a wide variety of clubs and activities students can join to meet people with common interests! At the beginning of every semester, Marian students attend an Activities Fair to see what options are available. You can also make friends in your residence hall and in your classes!

You didn't get too many correct this time around, but hopefully, you feel better now knowing which ones are myths and which are true.
