Where To Find Food That Doesn't Suck In Omaha, NE

I love food. Not pregnant, just eatin’ good. I like to think that I also have a pretty good ~palette~ considering I live in the midwest where most think that fine cuisine is Olive Garden. No offense to Olive Garden because I can get jiggy with their salad and breadsticks. However, there are some hidden gems in Omaha and surrounding areas. No, really. There are. Here’s a few that I keep up my sleeve for when I am hangry.

    1. Block 16

Block mother effing 16. Block 16 is the best restaurant in Omaha, hands down. I am sure you have heard of my lord and savior Alton Brown, host of Good Eats and Cutthroat Kitchen? If you haven’t, well close out of this blog and never read my material again, you uncultured swine. Ok, back to Block 16. One of Alton Brown’s favorite burgers in the NATION is served here. You read that correctly. The Croque Garcon, arguably their most popular menu item is what delicious beefy dreams are made of. Truffle mayo is on it people. Truffle mayo. They have fancy fries there as well, you can’t go wrong with the Gangsta Fries or the Dragon Fries. Best sweet potato fries I have ever had too, might I add

    2. Amsterdam Falafel & Kabob

A little hole in the wall in the Dundee neighborhood in Omaha. They serve falafel sandwiches, salads, hummus plates, and curry fries amongst other delicious things. Get the spicy falafel sandwich with spicy green and garlic sauce. And an order of curry fries. Then walk your happy ass down the block to eCreamery, which has been awarded with the best vanilla ice cream in Omaha AND was featured on SharkTank.

    3. Mother India

You think you don’t like Indian food? Think again. This restaurant can only hold like 15 people at its maximum, it is so tiny, but what they lack in space they make up for in flavor. Send your tastebuds to flavor town and order the Thimphu chicken and the garlic naan.

    4. Malara's

This is the kind of Italian restaurant that makes you wish you were also Italian so that you could have grown up eating this daily. Listen, mama likes a lasagna and a fried ravioli. I like to think of myself as a lasagna and fried ravioli connoisseur. These people get it right. Plus they are family run and Catarina Malara, the OG, immigrated here from Italy in 1960 and opened doors in 1984 and damn it, this shit is authentic.

    5. Sakura Bana

You want good sushi? Look no further. Don’t @ me and say that Blue Sushi in the old market is better, you uncultured swine. Sakura Bana has these adorable elderly sushi chefs that are so keen in their craft. It’s seriously an art form. Plus their miso soup and salad are game changers.

    6. PLANK

You like seafood right? Ok, cool. Mussels are bomb. Fish tacos are bomb. Lobster bisque is bomb. Nothing further. Happy eating y'all.
