1. The slow-mo drive-up.

You'll find that in almost every teen movie some lucky kid gets to pull-up in a coola** car. Whether this be the rich student at school, the jock boyfriend, or the mean girl, SOMEONE gets to drive a sweet ride. Why it's probably not the most realistic situation in the world? Well, the teen or their family //probably// couldn't afford that car, and also, there's always an empty spot just ready for them to roll in (when no one can ever find parking around a school anyway). Ignoring these reasons, it's always fun to watch the dramatic car-entrance.

2. The perfectly-choreographed dance.

You cannot have a teen movie without a perfectly-choreographed dance routine thrown in somewhere. Somehow, somewhere, sometime, there's at least one group of teens that are miraculously amazing dancers. It's like an early Britney music video, too flawless but cool as hell.

3. That one, or two, or three (or more) bathroom scenes

"Bathroom scene" meaning two friends hanging out in the bathroom a lot more than is realistically desirable. Like usually, the bathrooms are not as clean, or nice-looking (or probably nice-smelling either), and no teens would want to spend more time than necessary in one. However, bathroom scenes are iconic in the sense that a lot of interesting, moral-boosting, and tough conversations happen in them. (And you can also expect a few meltdowns and confrontations).

4. At least one throwback song

I guarantee you that every teen movie has at least one throwback track (whether it be background or not background music). Look, I love oldies but I also guarantee you that most of my teen friends do not and will not even listen to ONE. No, a lot of teens won't stand for one throwback song, but yes, that throwback song hits home every time.
