Retirement of a Legend

After 67 years of broadcasting, and being the voice behind the Los Angeles Dodgers, Vin Scully has officially retired. Scully's last home game was Sunday, September 25, 2016. #WinForVin had been the motivation for the team for quite some time, but was officially put into place with a tie game, extra innings, and a walk-off home run thanks to Charlie Culberson. Scully has been with the Dodger organization since the days of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Although he has finished broadcasting his last home game, Scully will call L.A.'s final series of the season against the San Francisco Giants next weekend.

The Loss of Jose Fernandez

Jose Fernandez, former pitcher of the Miami Marlins, passed away September 25, 2016 due to a boating accident that killed Fernandez and three others. The sudden death shook the whole MLB community. Multiple teams, and players paid their respects to Fernandez by hanging a jersey with his name and number in the dugout. The Miami Marlins placed his number and hat on the pitchers mound just before the game had started. A few days before his passing, he posted an announcement picture of his girlfriend being pregnant. He was just 24 years old at the time of the accident.

David Ortiz's Last Season

Boston Red Sox player David Ortiz's final games are approaching. After playing professional baseball for 19 years, Ortiz claimed before the 2016 season started, that he will be retiring because of the numerous injuries he's had throughout his career. He will retire with major accomplishments below his belt; such as hitting close to 600 home runs, and almost 1,800 RBI's. After recently clinching the American League East Division, the Boston Red Sox will send off Ortiz's career with a bang. His final regular season game will be at Fenway Park, October 2, 2016 against the Blue Jays.
