The McMaster Engineering Musical (Mac Eng Musical) brings together a group of nearly 100 Faculty of Engineering students every year to turn a popular musical or story into a story about Mac Eng. With your interests and/or talents in any facet in the arts, you can help us write an original script, build our own props, arrange our own music then finally take to the stage. We have put on 21 shows, including Dr. Wonka and School of Eng. We aim to create an amazing musical while also building a community with our members and providing an outlet for students to show off their creativity. McMaster Engineering Musical

With your interests in sustainability, re-engineering, and the integration of both, take part in EcoCar! McMaster University is proud to be participating in the EcoCAR Mobility Challenge; North America’s premier collegiate-level automotive engineering competition. EcoCAR is the latest in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition (AVTC) series. AVTCs represent a unique collaboration of government, industry, and academic partners who combine resources to explore sustainable transportation solutions. EcoCAR is challenging teams from 12 North American universities to re-engineer a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer to incorporate advanced propulsion systems, electrification, and connected and automated vehicle technology that will improve the energy efficiency, safety and consumer appeal of vehicles, specifically for the carsharing market. McMaster Engineering EcoCar Mobility Challenge

Through your interests in social justice, Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Canada is the club for you! EWB Canada is an international organization that aims to promote social justice, address inequalities, and eradicate poverty in Canada and around the world. The chapter network is the beating heart of EWB. Our chapter is one of 40 across the country most at universities and colleges, but some that are made up of professional engineers in bigger cities like Toronto and Calgary. Overseas, EWB is currently working in five countries in sub-Saharan Africa: Ghana, Malawi, Zambia, Uganda and Kenya. The chapters support and are supported by our national office in Toronto, where staff work on a lot of the same things we work on: fundraising, policy and advocacy. Engineers Without Borders - McMaster Chapter

You are a leader, a planner, and you like to take on responsibility and initiative! There are so many way to get involved in the society. Join McMaster Engineering Society (MES) as an elected department representative where you can help plan events for each department society. You can also hold an appointed position such as organizing Kipling (Kipling Coordinator), managing sports teams (Sports Coordinator), managing the society's social media (Social Media and Website Coordinator), and many many more! You can also take on an executive roles on the society such as VP finance to learn how to manage and budget finances for club, team, and conference allocations! You can also become conference/competition planners such as hosting the First-Year Engineering Conference (FYEC) or the McMaster Engineering Competition (MEC). McMaster Engineering Society

Because of your love for robotics, the McMaster Sumobot club is perfect for you! The McMaster Sumobot Club is a robotics organization that challenges students to design their own autonomous fighting robots, which are pitted against each other in tournament-style, one-on-one wrestling matches. Last year, we had an amazing turnout, with over 200 engineering participants. This year, we want to do even better.

Our Competition gives students a fun, well-rounded, and informative challenge. Students work in teams of four, developing key communication skills as they master the mechanical, electrical, and software systems needed to construct a fighting robot. You support equity and diversity causes so you can be a great member in our clubs and societies such as: 
1) McMaster Engiqueers: The goal of McMaster EngiQueers (EQ for short) is to increase the visibility, comfort and engagement of LGBTQ+ students and their allies within the Faculty of Engineering. We host events for fun, for pride, and for professional connections! We also advertise and encourage delegate attendance for 2 annual conferences; the Out on Bay Street Annual Conference, and the CFES Diversity in Engineering Conference. 2) The McMaster Women in Engineering Society: The McMaster Women in Engineering Society is a group of undergraduate Engineering, Biotechnology, and Computer Science students focused on creating a community where female-identified students feel empowered and supported throughout their education. The Society has seen a lot of growth in the past year and we are especially excited to see what we can accomplish with our new team and professional development initiative. It is a goal of ours to provide our students with opportunities to network with each other and industry professionals as well as grow as individuals. We strongly believe in the importance of introducing young girls to the world of STEM through our various outreach opportunities such as high school and community events. The McMaster WIE Society has five main initiatives that we follow to aid in the growth and support of the STEM Community. They are Professional Development, Highschool Outreach, Community Outreach, Mentorship, and Social Events. 3) National Society of Black Engineers: NSBE McMaster is a chapter with the mission of increasing the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community, while also trying to bring awareness towards the black students in STEM.They have 40-50 members, where we host about 15 events throughout the year. Some of the events include workshops, social nights, library study halls, guest speakers, and more. 4) Start your own club, targeting social issues to increase equity and diversity on campus and around our community!

Equity and Diversity Clubs and Societies

You are a programming enthusiast! Join McMaster Competitive Programming (MCP),  a community of passionate individuals dedicated to increasing the technical skills of all McMaster students. Our members are well-versed in competitive computing concepts and represent McMaster University in the world-prestigious International Collegiate Programming Competition (ICPC) every year. Although MCP is officially recognized as a team, most of our effort is focused on providing students the tools and opportunities to develop their technical skills as well as connecting them to numerous companies looking for talented interns. McMaster Competitive Programming

You want to learn and apply core engineering skills and get your hands dirty! Join one of our many teams that can help you gain technical skills, while competing against schools across Canada. 

1) Baja Racing: The McMaster Baja Racing team members further their design and technical skills, while also gaining hands on experience through developing a performance off-road vehicle. Students are provided the opportunity to gain specialized skills through on-going vehicle component development within specialized sub-teams consisting of: Chassis, Controls, Data Acquisition, Drivetrain, Ergonomics, and Suspension. 2) Concrete Toboggan (MECCT): Every year, our team of undergraduate engineering students design and build a new concrete toboggan, complete with a specialty concrete mix, steering system, brakes, and superstructure from scratch. Our team offers several experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate students of all years to gain technical experience in 3-D solid modelling, finite element analysis/ crash & stress testing, civil engineering lab equipment, manufacturing and the ability to use build spaces on campus. 3) Mac Formula Electric: ​MAC formula electric is a student run team at McMaster that designs, manufactures and races a fully electric formula style racecar for competition all around the world. The car is capable of impressive acceleration and handling through use of advanced electric motors and lightweight composite manufacturing methods. 4) McMaster Engineering Custom Vehicle Team (MecVT): MecVT is a group of engineering students dedicated to creating and maintaining unique engineering vehicles.
