10 Moments We've All Had While Looking For A Job

Job hunting is one of the most stressful and anxiety inducing activities on the face of the Earth. Everything about it is a recipe for hair loss and an endless stream of tears. However, here are 10 moments we've all had so you know you're not alone in all this.

1. The Revelation

We've all had it in one way, shape, or form. That moment where we finally realize that it's time to start looking for work. It can be happy and filled with optimism. Other times, it's a swift thump on the back of your head from your parents telling you to get one. Or maybe, it's just an empty wallet. Either way, we've all been there.

2. The Search

Those seemingly endless hours of cruising the internet for any glimmer of opportunity are just part of the hunt. Searching on LinkedIn, Indeed, Craigslist; receiving notifications from all of them whenever a possible job opportunity in your field is available. We've all sat down and searched for that one job posting for the job that'll give us that blip of enthusiasm.

3. The Discovery

Thank the universe. There it is. That wonderful sign that lures us in so deviously. After all those hours of looking, finally finding that job posting that gives you everything you want has made us all feel giddy inside. Don't lie, we've all freaked out about a job opening at one point in our lives. It's that possibility of landing a job at a business you connect with that get us.

4. The Cover Letter

The dreaded cover letter is something to be feared. How do I convey the right tone with the company? How do I make myself seem desirable to an employer? How do I stand out? Trust me, everyone goes through the torture that is writing a cover letter. Just keep staring at the computer screen, my friend. Something'll happen.

5. The Silence

So you've finally sent in your application. The cover letter was perfect, the resume looked extra spicy, and your samples were pretty swanky. But days go by, and nothing. It's nerve-wracking to just sit there in silence, checking your emails every day, hoping for any reply to let you know whether you should sulk in the corner or turn up.

6. The Disappointment

It hurts, it hurts so much. We regret to inform you that you lack of experience, we've found a more qualified candidate, or no reply at all. Whatever the response, it sucks butt.

Rejection sucks, but after some time we've all picked ourselves up and gotten back at it. It's back to the drawing board to make that resume even spicier. Not to mention that self pat on the back for that extra encouragement.

8. The Pay Off

Nothing is better than finally getting that email or call that tells you've got the interview. You're not guaranteed to get the job yet, but we've all celebrated like we were. Remember that pay on the back earlier? Time to do it again.

9. The Interview

Knees weak, arms are heavy. There should be spaghetti hear somewhere. We've all freaked out before the interview, but the moment the foot is in that office, it's game time. They'll know exactly why you deserve that job. Give them the anecdotes, hit em with the experiences, and show them those examples.

10. Success

Give yourself one more pat. The message telling you that you've got the job is everything you can ask for and more. We've all jumped up and down and ran around the building with happiness. It's a job well done, and it's a job you earned to have.
