I Don't Understand How Isn't Everyone Obsessed With Aly & AJ

Aly and AJ Michalka, two beautiful human beings. You've probably heard about them.

But if you haven't, here's a quick backstory. These two sisters were born in Torrance, California, but spent most of their childhood days in Seattle, Washington. Former Disney stars, known for their movie "Cow Belles", Aly and AJ signed a recording contract with Hollywood Records in 2004. Their debut album, "Into the Rush", was certified gold by RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). In 2009, the Michalka sisters renamed themselves 78violet, and released "Hothouse", their first single in five years. However, in 2015, the duo returned to their original name, and in 2017, released "Take Me", the lead single from their EP, "Ten Years". The pair has released another EP, "Sanctuary", in May this year.

Their comeback is very promising and might change the music industry, and yet we're sleeping on them.

If we exclude their "78violet" era, Aly & AJ have been gone for ten whole years. Their second album, "Insomniatic", released in 2008, was, apparently, their last one. However, the girls returned stronger than ever with their EP "Ten Years", in 2018. Many critics consider their music "a short stack of glassy indie-pop" and "riding the seemingly unstoppable wave of 80s synth nostalgia, their interpretation channels recent releases from Haim, Chvrches, and Carly Rae Jepsen, while also reaching back to acts like Genesis." But these girls aren't just two pretty faces and two unique voices. They both have their acting careers, separately.

Aly was already a Disney star before her younger sister joined her. She portrayed Keely Teslow on "Phil of the Future" and later starred in the popular teen rom-com "Easy A" as Rhiannon, Olive Penderghast's best friend. She also got notorious with her role as Dr. Peyton Charles on the TV show "iZombie". AJ, on the other hand, became famous by portraying Lainey Lewis on ABC's hit sitcom "The Goldbergs", and later reprised her role in the spinoff, "Schooled".

They are down-to-earth people who want to connect with their fans.

And they want to turn the world into a better place.

They support many causes, such as HeadCount, an organization who helps people register to vote; project HEAL, which aids people with eating disorders; and the Trevor Project, which supports the LGBTQ+ community.

And that's it. Two inspiring, strong girls, who truly deserve our attention.
