Swedish Words That Sounds Very Wrong In English!

These Swedish words may seem a little weird but they're actually completely fine!

1. Bra

Bra in Swedish is not something women wear for support :) It actually means good!

2. Bad

Bad in Swedish means bath, if you're ever on the roads in Sweden you may see a sign that says "bad & camping", no it doesn't mean it's a terrible camping it means that there's a beach there!

3. Fart

If you're ever in garage in Sweden you may see signs that say infart or utfart. But don't worry infart means entrance and utfart means exit

4. Prick

If you ever feel like going grocery shopping in Sweden you may see something called prickig korv, no worries it's nothing dirty! It's a common sausage you put on sandwiches. Prick actually means dot. And don't ask me why we have a sausage called "dotted sausage"

5. Puss

NO it's not a dirty word! If you're out on the streets in Sweden you're probably going to hear someone say "Puss Puss Hejdå". Puss means kiss in Swedish, and hejdå means bye. Actually the word kiss in english actually means pee in Swedish. i know it's kind of confusing!

6. Slut

If you're ever in Sweden you will probably hear or see this word somewhere, if you're on the train theres a chance you will see a signs that says "slutstation" or if you're in a store you can see a sign that says "slutrea". But the word slut actually means "end". So "slutstation" means end station and "slutrea" means end of sale.

7. Fack

Even tho it's not spelled the same it's kind of pronounced the same (not really but it sounds very similar) Fack in Swedish means compartment. It not THE most used word but it's still kinda funny!!

8. Jerker

This is actually a quite common first name in Sweden! I just think it's really funny!
