Cannabidiol (CBD): A New Treatment For Type 2 Diabetes

Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) and cannabidiol (CBD) are phytochemicals related to the active ingredient found in marijuana but having no psychoactive effects. Based on the report published in the journal Diabetes Care in August 2016, both molecules are useful in the treatment of hyperglycemia in people who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Scientists from the University of Nottingham in Derby and many other British research institutes examined 62 participants with type 2 diabetes diagnosis.

    This was found

THCV decreased their fasting blood glucose compared to placebo and improved their pancreas ability to produce insulin.

CBD improved their insulin responsiveness and helped their pancreas to make insulin based on their food intake.

Based on these findings, they concluded that both substances could be useful and safe for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

CBD is also under investigation for the treatment of various other medical conditions, including:

    Inflammation

. According to the US National Institutes of Health, the CBD drug show promise for the treatment of autoimmune illnesses in which the immune system can attack the heart and other vital organs in the body.

    Psychosis (schizophrenia)

According to Schizophrenia Research, CBD is a promising antipsychotic.

    Seizures

According to Seminars in Pediatric Neurology, May 2016, CBD is currently undergoing clinical studies to treat epileptic disorders in children.

    Spasms

The painful spasms of the sclerotic plaque could give rise to CBD

    Cancer

Researchers at the Sheba Cancer Research Center in Israel are studying CBD as a treatment for neuroblastoma, or tumor of the nervous system.

    Sclerotic Plates

According to a study conducted in 2013 in Neurobiological Disease, CBD may well be an effective treatment because of its anti-inflammatory abilities.

    The Depression

Spanish researchers are optimistic about the use of CBD as an antidepressant, according to the online version of Neuropharmacology.

    Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

According to the New York School of Medicine in the United States, CBD can be used for a short time to treat anxiety disorders such as

    -generalized anxiety disorder,

    -panic disorder,

    -anxiety disorder,

    -obsessive-compulsive disorder, and

    -post-traumatic stress disorder.

    Convulsive Disorder

In May 2016, research in pharmacology revealed that CBD could be a safe and effective treatment for erectile dysfunction after more clinical trials and huge proportion.

    Acne

The anti-inflammatory properties of CBD could make it an excellent candidate for treating acne.

    Alzheimer's Disease

In July 2016, behavioral pharmacology indicated that CBD could be the ideal treatment.

THVC is currently under investigation for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Its calming effect could help relieve suffering in conditions such as anxiety.

Time will tell: the consensus among medical institutions seems to be that more tests are needed.
