What Do You Know About University Challenge?

Leeds University Union are searching for a University Challenge team this year - to apply have a go at the first round of tests here. First though, have a read and find out a bit more about the famous quiz show.

1. It's been around for a long time.

The show first aired on TV in 1962 (and Leeds had a team that year).

2. It's filmed with a split screen.

But there's a common misconception that one team are actually above the other. They did once experiment with having a two tier set in 1985.

3. There's only ever been two presenters.

4. About 130 teams apply each year to be on the show.

But only about 28 get selected to appear on the programme.

5. Two contestants now have their own TV show.
