Everyone has their favorite celebs, but it takes a true fangirl (or fanboy) to stay committed to the agony of an unrequited love.

Stage I: The Introduction

Well, hellloooooo there...

Cupid's arrow can strike when you least expect it. One day you're minding your own business and watching a movie, or a TV show, or Wendy Williams starts talking about someone new on Hot Topics. Then suddenly, a strikingly beautiful face pops up on your screen, and you think to yourself, "Oh, wow. Who is that." That's when your descent into the rabbit hole begins.

Stage II: Casual Lurking

For days following the initial encounter, you won't be able to get that precious face out of your head. It's seared into your mind, and you have to find out a little more. So you do some lurking, but nothing crazy. You might take a peek at their IMDb page and find out they were in that movie you watched in class once when you were in seventh grade. You might even browse through their Twitter or Instagram and find out they're just as witty and cool as you suspected.

But your're not, like, obsessed or anything. Pfft.

Stage III: Heavy Stalking

At this point, you've practically watched and read every interview they have ever done. Your entire Suggested page on Youtube is filled with videos about them, and you start getting Google alerts about them, even though you don't remember setting that up on your phone. You know that they had a goldfish named Fluffy when they were two, you follow their mom's friend's daughter's yoga instructor on Instagram, and you start calling them by their childhood nickname.

But still, not obsessed. Totally not. Pfft.

Stage IV: Delusion

You two were meant to be together. It's true love. Now, all you have to do is pick out a wedding dress. Paris is beautiful in the spring, that'll be the perfect place to honeymoon. You'll probably have two kids, maybe three. You should start looking up good school districts in L.A.

Now, if only your love will respond to your tweets or DMs. You know they saw the cute comments you left under that post of a half eaten burrito they posted...

Wait, hold on, who is that chick they took a selfie with? Something's not right.

Stage V: Realization

Suddenly, the dark, infinite truth hits you: they don't know you exist. Everything your mom has been saying is true. You are only one out of thousands of groupies who pine after this person. You mourn for a few days and find solace with your one and only bae: food. You might even cry a little.

Eventually, you pick yourself back up, and go back to your regular schedule of scrolling through social media and browsing through Netflix when you should be studying. All is well again.

Until one day, you're minding your own business and a beautiful face pops up on your screen...
