JoJo Siwa Explained Why Social Media Was A "Safe Space" For Her To Publicly Come Out, And It's Very Inspiring

"I always told myself it was gonna be easier to come out online than it was in person."

Obviously, you know that JoJo Siwa publicly came out as gay way back in January 2021.

JoJo broke the news on TikTok at the time, and during a recent interview with E! News, she revealed that social media actually made it easier for her to come out.

"Just getting social media for me, it actually gave me a safe space when I came out," she explained. JoJo also said that she “knew that even if everyone around [her] didn't support [her] that there was gonna be people online that did."

"And I knew that I was gonna find those people and I was really excited about that," she added. "I always told myself it was gonna be easier to come out online than it was in person."

She continued, "And I do believe that's very true."

JoJo also reflected on finding her own voice amid the constant hum of social media, and how she's made her own community in a space that can sometimes be quite toxic.

“It's been fun to be able to figure out what ways I get to be a part of that," she said. "You know what I mean? How I fit into the piece of the puzzle there."
