If you've been following the news at all this week, you're more than aware of the OceanGate Titan submersible tragedy, in which five people presumably died after a "catastrophic implosion" that occurred during a tourist dive to the wreck of the Titanic.
The news story has generated tons of discourse online. It seems like everyone has something to say about the incident — and now that includes Adele.
The iconic singer brought the topic up during a recent performance of her ongoing Las Vegas residency, in which she subjected her audience to an impromptu poll inspired by the tragedy.
After prefacing her comments with the disclosure that the incident was "so sad and so tragic," Adele admitted (via Entertainment Tonight) that "I have been debating with my friends on our group chats. Everyone’s like, 'I would never do that.' But that’s a lie, 'cause a lot of people would do that."
"I wanna do a vote — not in mind of what happened, 'cause that was so sad and so tragic — but, before this week, how many people, if they could, would go down to the very, very bottom of the ocean to see the Titanic?" she asked, observing the response as "a very good proportion."
Then she asked how many people would go to space, and characterized the response as "a few more of you." "I wouldn't do either," she replied.
"I'm a bit of a pussy — I'm a scaredy-cat of everything," she explained as the audience laughed. "I won't even go on rollercoasters."
"But also, I just genuinely don’t have an interest in the deep sea or space, so that’s why."
Gotta say...very relatable. Anyway, we'll let you know whether Adele has anything more to say on the matter.
