This is the book that started it all. Daphne Bridgerton is looking for a husband, and ends up stuck with none other than Simon Basset. She doesn't like him that much, but he is handsome, and funny, and a super-wealthy duke...As the two have to spend more time together, their tumultuous relationship begins to resemble love, until an unexpected scandal throws changes everything and Daphne and Simon find themselves married.

The pair uncover St. Clair family secrets, and embark on a dangerous heist together, one where they learn about the past, the future, and each other.
