15 Reminders And Affirmations For Returning To Life Post COVID-19

Returning to the old routine can be hard! Here's some reminders for a gentle pick me up if you're struggling.

    1. Confidence is crucial.

Acting like you can rise to a challenge is half of the job of overcoming it.

    2. I can change at my own pace.

Remembering to prioritize yourself as we return to workplace norms of valuing others above yourself can make the transition smoother and less taxing after an already hard year.

    3. Growth is uncomfortable.

    4. I am able to achieve my goals.

Remember that you stopped goals and projects because you had to, not because you were incompetent.

    5. Taking breaks does not make me weak.

As we return to full society, taking breaks to calm down and re-energize is a sign of self-respect, not weakness.

    6. I am strong.

    7. The struggles of others do not invalidate my struggles.

Everyone had a terrible year, and someone suffering more trauma than you does not mean your suffering is less important. Trauma and hurt are not a competition.

    8. I know my limits well enough to push them.

Carefully pushing a little further than you want to go can show potential you did not know you had.

    9. The past does not define me.

    10. I am valuable inherently.

No matter how much you struggled or are currently struggling, you are always valuable.

    11. Negative emotions do not make me a negative person.

Feeling upset, guilty, or stressed by the return to 'regular' life does not prohibit you from feeling happy that we are returning to regular life.

    12. Change is hard, but it is not new.

    13. I am doing the best I can.

You are doing all you can, no matter how much or little you are achieving.

    14. This will find its place.

Eventually, you will be in a place where your life is not dictated by the pandemic and your reaction to it. It will not be immediate, but it is good to remind yourself that eventually the day will come.

    15. I build my own future.

Go forth and live life the way you want to. You are in control.

Remember, these reminders are meant to motivate you and calm you. Take it easy, be kind to ourself and others, and know that change is not quick. You'll get there eventually!
