I mean..look at him. He practically looks like the cartoon jumped off the screen into the heart of England and many mid 00s tween/teenagers alike. While the vocals are not in question Harry also receive good reviews for his performance in Dunkirk. Nick Jonas has steadily been making the rounds as an actor which performances in hits like Jumanji and Scream Queens. Also check out his turn as Ian Wright on Hawaii Five O. Truly chilling. This Jonas brother can ACT. He also would bring a lot of maturity to the role of Eric which would make the idea of a human prince falling in love with a sea creature a little bit more convincing. However what tops Fisher from the rest is one vital thing: Lin Manuel Miranda. Miranda is working on the film including writing new songs with Alan Menken. Fisher has not only worked with Miranda in Hamilton, he also did the pop version of You're Welcome for Moana with Miranda. If Miranda is involved at all in this process I'm sure we can expect at least Fisher's name to be on the audition list. He also was on Disney owned ABC's Dancing With The Stars so he's familiar enough with the rest of the Mouse House too. He's also going to be warming teen/YA hearts in the To All the Boys I've Loved Before sequel this year. He's charming but cheeky enough to be the youthful, adventure loving Prince Eric yet sweet enough for Ariel and the audience to fall in crazy in love with.
