The famous scientist in your life has a name that's synonymous with "genius" and they've published, like, 300 scientific papers. When you ask "what are you thinking about?" they usually respond with something that practically no normal human being could understand, but you nod and smile because you still want them to know you care even though you're confused beyond reason. Since they spend most of their time ruminating on wormholes and stuff, they're prone to losing track of time. The best gift for them would be our relativity watch: the whimsical take on a traditional watch face will remind them to take time to laugh, in-between discovering the secrets of the known universe.

Albert Einstein

The famous scientist in your life is a reclusive genius with a bit of a fixation on electric currents and a real knack for inventing cutting-edge gadgetry. You're not _totally_ sure they're not going to invent something that brings about the end of the earth, but you love them anyway. The best gift for them would probably be circuit clay or an energy stick. The simplistic introductions to concepts of electricity will be a calming practice that will help remind them why they got into this whole "science" thing in the first place, even when they're frustrated that their ideas are being stolen right out from under them.

Nikola Tesla

The famous scientist in your life is a professor, engineer, author, physician, dancer, and the first African American woman in space. Their accomplishments are dazzling and we're all impressed that you don't have a crippling inferiority complex just knowing them. There's basically nothing they can't do and that can make it hard to buy gifts. We recommend the "Women in Science" book by Rachel Ignotofsky. While your scientist _figuratively_ wrote the book on being a super amazing multi-talented woman scientist of the future, Ignotofsky _literally_ wrote it. And it's adorable.

Mae Jemison

The famous scientist in your life is as prolific as they are beloved. They certifiably obsessed with outer space and that includes extraterrestrial life that may or may not exist (concept: Carl Sagan _was_ an extraterrestrial. Discuss.) They are busy (seriously, just read about this guy he did everything) teaching at Cornell, publishing 600+ papers, writing novels, narrating iconic television shows, and basically making science a thing that people talk about. Sometimes they are so busy they forget to eat, so we recommend the Zero Gravity Fridge Rover. It's teensy and spacey, and they'll so enjoy winding it up and letting it roam all over the refrigerator they'll remember that they need sustenance to survive.

Carl Sagan

The famous scientist in your life is a pioneer in the areas of radioactivity (which is a term she coined because, she's awesome.) She happens to be the first woman to earn the Nobel Prize and the only woman to earn two (because, awesome.) She's done some other pretty cool things like, oh I dunno, discovering an ELEMENT OR TWO. We recommend the "Glowing Chemistry" set for your scientist, because as she said herself: "I am among those who think that science has great beauty and nothing is more beautiful than things that glow." (We might have added the last part.)

Marie Curie

The famous scientist in your life is actually considered the first computer programmer and we just think it's really funny how a woman was the first computer programmer and now women make up less than 20% of the tech jobs in most major companies and make about 30% less than their male coworkers but that's neither here nor there. We think the book "Perfectly Perilous Math" would be a nice gift, because even though she's a mathematician and a writer and will undoubtedly find these challenges laughably easy, it will distract her from the staggering gender disparity in the field she pioneered.
