1. For the best starting point, Use Lightroom!

You can’t go wrong as I use this program entirely for heavy workflow of images and it gets to the point of becoming sort of like VSCO for me except far better if you know how to edit RAW cause it takes every strand of pixel possible and changes the information of it. Allowing far more potential out of your photos. Most important of all, study, study, study! Don’t assume your know everything there is to know.

2. If you don’t have Lightroom, Try VSCO!

Did you know that I used to use VSCO before I got to the point of editing in Lightroom? VSCO allowed me to experiment so to speak and it does use quick edits like Lightroom but I feel the details of the photo diminish which is why I use Lightroom. But it is great for finding what style you like and can work to implement that into your future workflow.

3. Compose your captures within your light sources.

True art comes from how well you place your subject in the light or if you are shooting a wide scale landscape. You can sometimes shoot against the light to really get an astounding image. Same thing can go for portraits. Work on your placement as well to further create new perspectives but make sure you pay attention to how the light hits. Even indoors can present some interesting light setups, most can understand it more if you start with studio shooting to get a great understanding of the light.
