You haven't really put in the time to understand the community, and that lack of understanding may contribute toward not wanting to speak up, or to accidentally saying something with hurtful or negative implications.

In a lot of ways, it's hard to come to terms with something that you perceive makes you different from everyone else, but in the end what they say is true: love is love. Even when you feel isolated, know that there is a strong, global community that understands you -- watch 'coming out' videos or 'it gets better' videos, participate in conversations, help yourself develop an understanding of who you are, and when you're ready -- if you feel safe -- share it with others. So much of being happy is being open.
