    8 Causes Behind Your Bad Breath

    Bad breath can be a sign of various health problems. It can be embarrassing and you can lose your confidence due to this problem.

    It’s not only you who has to suffer because of your bad breath, people around you also has to suffer due to it. The following 8 conditions can be the reasons behind bad breath.

    Poor Oral Hygiene

    If you don’t brush your teeth twice a day and don’t clean between your teeth daily, remained food particles will build up bacteria and cause bad breath. Cleaning your tongue is also very important because it can also cause unpleasant smell. Use a tongue cleaner to clear them out.

    Plaque

    Your teeth require proper brushing otherwise it will create plaque. Inadequate brushing will create a sticky layer of plaque which has it’s own odor. Plaque will destroy your gum tissues as it contains many types of bacteria.

    Water Intake

    Drinking plenty of water cleans harmful bacteria from your mouth. If you are dehydrated, your mouth will smell like rotten eggs. Your body needs at least 8 glasses of water to get the right amount of hydration.

    Food

    If garlic, onions and other pungent foods are part of your diet, then remember it can be a cause behind offensive breath odor. Don’t eat strongly flavoured foods to avoid bad breath.

    Smoking

    Smoking can cause awful breath odor. It destroys your teeth and gums which is also a leading cause of bad breath. If you are a regular smoker, try to take help from your doctor in order to quit this habit. Use of tobacco reduces the saliva production which is another cause of bad breath.

    Tonsil Stones

    Tonsil stones can be very annoying. They are caused by mucus and bacteria in your mouth. Many people feel that there is nothing wrong with their tonsil stones. They are making a mistake thinking like this because most of the times tonsil stones might be the main culprit behind producing bad breath.

    Wrong Drinking Habits

    If you are consuming too much coffee and alcohol, then you are welcoming bad breath. Excess consumption of alcohol can cause dehydration. Brushing your teeth or using mouth wash will not work in this condition. You have to completely leave the habit of consuming coffee and alcohol to avoid bad breath.

    Dry Mouth

    Proper production of saliva is important as it cleanse your mouth and remove bacteria. If there is a lower production of saliva in your mouth, it can lead towards bad breath. Reasons behind dry mouth are some medicines, night’s sleep, snoring, lack of saliva production, breathing through the mouth, etc.
