Five New Super Heroes About To Hit The Internet

Crime Cleaners is a web-series written by 5 talented actors who also star in the show as the protagonists, that requires studio backing but Terwase Marvin Akanyi, the Producer, Manikandan Mathivanan, the director Konstantin Frolov the Cinematographer made it happen.

With the influx of super hero movies and shows at its peak in Hollywood, a group of 5 ambitious actors approached a growing production company PressPlay with the script for crime cleaners and wanted it made. The trio at the company were very intrigued and Manikandan Mathivanan, the director felt it was personal as well because growing up, he had always wanted to be the guy to step up to bullying of any sort. So it was only natural that he’ll jump on an opportunity to direct it with a cinematographer Konstantin Frolov behind the camera.

When someone hears ‘Indie’ they automatically think low budget and sometimes they are right. However Terwase Marvin Akanyi, the producer of this show says, “Indie means Brave and Daring.”

One of the grand items in the pilot episode was the comic store location, which originally was written as a grocery store.Would you believe that he found it hard to get a grocery store to shoot at for a few hours in Los Angeles? So then the Director opted that scene to take place in a comic store. With couple of calls, Marvin was able to secure the perfect comic store which is an Iconic comic store in the Los Angeles County.

Another thing is the costumes our heroes wear are all created by each character. Production didn’t have the funds to hire a costume designer so they had to get creative and that brought about the amazing costumes you will see in the show.

That is what we love about being indie film makers. Marvin often quotes Besidone Atsemudiara, a producer ‘We as indie film makers have to be the artists that attack situations the smartest way possible’. He also says ‘there is this sense of accomplishments when we as an indie film makers aim and attain goals that the studio producers reach for knowing that we have the odds of budget against us.’

Being that we are going with reality that no human being has super powers, the Director played with the psychology of the characters and actors to believe that having super natural powers will be their down fall, so they had to focus on belief of the mind and determination to defeat.

Another thing was it being a comedy; he didn’t want it to be a ridiculous moment when these under- dogs changed into their costumes so he chose to make that scene as serious and closest to life or death. Even with the general look, the colors in the show come from the production design and costumes, but lighting wise Konstantin wanted the entire world to look grounded. Using natural shadows and dullness of the world, that shows a juxtaposition of the heroes against their world.

To still fall back to the comedic genre of the show, Konstantin mostly used wide angle lens and also he shot the whole Fight Sequence which happens at the comic store in 120 fps to make it look animated. In addition the scene was choreographed like a high school girl’s fight.A direction they all loved.

The team is now in pre-production for the second episode of crime cleaners.They are also scheduling meetings with potential investors and networks to keep the show running.
