I’ve Decided To Rank All Of The Songs From Ariana Grande’s Six Studio Albums

This was extremely difficult as an Ariana lover but I was committed! These are all based on my personal opinions and I totally understand people will disagree on some of them but please be kind and respectful and not judgmental when commenting :)

Honestly, my biggest issue with this song is I feel like it doesn’t fit on the Yours Truly album at all. It feels more like it belongs on a movie soundtrack or something, or on Victorious. Even besides that though I still have never been able to get into this song whatsoever. I’m not sure what it is.

To be honest the biggest reason I dislike this song is because of Lil Wayne’s verse. I just don’t feel like it fits in the song and it’s weird that part of it is censored despite it being on a album with other explicit tracks. It just kind of takes me out of it. I’m also not a huge fan of the way the chorus is sang either. I will say the music video is cool though.

This one is pretty much tied with the 34+35 remix but I put it 1 rank higher because it can be fun to listen to sometimes. I have the same issue though with it not necessarily needing 3 artists, plus it’s really not that great of a song in general. I’ll also never not be mad that this song made it on the deluxe version of My Everything but not Cadillac Song or Too Close. 😔 Favorite lyrics: “Bang bang there goes your heart.”

I love the message behind this song and the instrumentals are beautiful, but for whatever reason I can’t get into it. It sucks because when the track list came out I thought it’d be one of my favorites. Maybe it will grow on me in time.

Favorite lyrics: “You be so worried 'bout mine (Huh), can’t even get yourself none.”

I love the lyrics and message behind this song but the tune puts me to sleep.

Favorite lyrics: “But if I can't be me, the fuck's the point?”

A beautiful song but once again, the tune makes it hard for me to want to listen to it. It fits the song perfectly though and the lyrics are great. For me though the tune makes all the difference when it comes to loving a song. Lyrics are equally important and that’s the main reason this wasn’t lower.

Favorite lyrics: “Wrap me in your jacket, my baby, and lay me in your bed. And kiss me underneath the moonlight.”

This is another short one but it reminds me of a lullaby it’s so pretty. It could have been expanded on a bit but I also think it works as is.

Favorite lyrics: “Love me and don’t look back, I want you with me on this road to the sky, we’ll be shining every night I promise you, just me and you.”

I go back and forth on this song. The beat is fun and it has a good message but I feel like the lyrics could have been better. It feels a little repetitive at times. But it’s not bad by any means.

Favorite lyrics: “Until you've walked a mile in my shoes, you don’t know me.”

This song used to be a lot higher for me, but it’s another example of a song where the tune makes all the difference. It’s a pretty tune but it’s hard to keep my attention with it. The lyrics are great though and it’s a beautiful song.

Favorite lyrics: “Steering clear of any headaches to start, and if we're being honest, I'd rather your body than half of your heart.”

It has a fun beat and a great message, but it also feels very generic and repetitive.

Favorite lyrics: “Midnight shadows, when finding love is a battle.”

Ariana’s verses on this song are beautiful vocally and lyrically, but I feel like Big Sean’s verse either wasn’t needed or was just too long. I don’t know, it just didn’t fit. He was great in Right There, their voices sound great together. Just not in this particular song in my opinion.

Favorite lyrics: “Cause if the water dries up, and the moon stops shining, stars fall, and the world goes blind.”

This is another song where I feel like the rap verse wasn’t needed or needed to be different in some way. I don’t personally think Doja and Ariana’s voices sound that great together in this song but it could have worked if maybe the verse was reworked. But honestly I think a different artist might have been able to make it work. No hate to Doja at all! I just don’t think she worked for this particular song, but I actually think her and Ariana sounded good together on I Don’t Do Drugs!

Favorite lyrics: “'Cause I see you trying, subliminally trying, to see if I'm gon' be the one that's in your arms.”

Honestly although it has grown on me a little bit, this song was a bit underwhelming as a lead single/transition into the Positions era. It just feels really simple and basic/generic, not in a bad way but not in a great way either. Compared to most other tracks on the album it just doesn’t stand out. I really love the music video though and the vocals are beautiful too!

Favorite lyrics: “But I get tired of running, fuck it, now I'm running with you.”

This song is upbeat and fun but the lyrics are kind of basic and generic. It’s still a cute song though.

Favorite lyrics: “It's obvious I want to be into you but it all depends on all the things you do.”

The thing I love most about this song is that it has kind of a tropical vibe that Ariana’s vocals go perfectly with. I don’t think it necessarily needed to be a collab but her and Pharrell sound good together and the lyrics are fun, a bit repetitive at times, but cool.

Favorite lyrics: “Sleep if you want, and wake up in love again.”

This is a really cute and fun song, but honestly the “if you wanna party put your hands up” is really random and feels out of place. Its still fun to dance to though and that goes a long way with me.

Favorite lyrics: “To tell the truth, it hit me hard. A broken heart is all I have now.”

This song has grown on me a lot recently, out of the deluxe tracks it’s my least favorite (not including the remix) but it’s still a really beautiful song.

Favorite lyrics: “All I wanna do is spend my time with you, even when the learning’s done and nothing's new.”

A big part of the reason I’m not a huge fan of this song is the beginning with the “La la la la la la la la.” I know it’s such a short part of the whole song and I still do like the song but that just annoys me and takes me out of it right away. But it’s still a pretty song with great lyrics and vocals. Honestly, if Ariana had sang that part instead i think it would have been fine.

Favorite lyrics: “But it's hard to breathe when you're touching me there, hard to breathe when you're kissing me there, hard to breathe when you're not here.”

I remember being so excited when this song was finally added to iTunes/Spotify, and I still like the song but it’s honestly not as great as I remember it being when I first heard it on YouTube and was furious it was only on the Target version of the album lol. It’s still fun though with a catchy beat.

Favorite lyrics: “Let's rock to this music, have the time of your life.”

This is another fun song with a catchy beat that doesn’t have the most extraordinary lyrics but is fun to sing to.

Favorite lyrics: “Ain't you ever seen a princess be a bad bitch?”

This song is super short(the main reason it’s not higher) but it’s an adorable song with cute lyrics and it sucks that because of the name it doesn’t get recognized as much. It could be named “my dog’s hairy butt” and it’d still be a wonderful song. I have nothing against Pete for the record.

Favorite lyrics: “Universe must have my back, fell from the sky into my lap.”

I always go back and forth on this song for some reason. I’ve recently started to like it again but lyrically it doesn’t stand out as well as others. The background vocals in some parts of the chorus are a bit annoying too tbh. I don’t notice it as much as I used to but it’s kind of distracting sometimes.

Favorite lyrics: “I’ve been worried 'bout you lately, running outta time, wishing you would come and save me.”

This song is so unique compared to her other songs, tune/beat wise and even lyric-wise in some ways. It took awhile to grow on me but I love it.

Favorite lyrics: “You don't get to put me on your bottom line, you don't get what's mine, and I'm doing fine.”

This is another song that took awhile to grow on me, and honestly, the biggest reason is that guy in the background that repeats himself all throughout the song. It’s incredibly irritating, and the chorus is pretty repetitive too, but ignoring all that, it’s a pretty great song with a good message and the beat/tune is catchy. The rap verse is also perfect in this song.

Favorite lyrics: “Ah, guess you're way above it now, and that's your way to love it now.”

This song is a bop! The lyrics and the beat are fun and I always have fun listening to it. The rap verse is also great and fits well with this song.

Favorite lyrics: “Once you tastin' my ice cream, I bet you won't ever leave.”

This is a beautiful song, I love the lyrics and the beat/tune is a perfect mix that it’s not too slow but not too fast either.

Favorite lyrics: “As I'm layin' down with you every night, it still gets to me that you remain by my side.”

This song is so beautiful! It’s simple but has very beautiful lyrics and the vocals are gorgeous.

Favorite lyrics: “I know I'm not your only, but I'll still be a fool, cause I'm a fool for you.”

This song is short but it’s perfection TBH. It’s a perfect interlude and has such a calming and almost magical tune, and the lyrics are perfect as well as the vocals(that’s always a given though). If it weren’t for how short it is it’d be higher.

Favorite lyrics: “I been waiting for someone like you.”

I’ll never stop being angry that this song isn’t on iTunes/Spotify. It may not be the most extraordinary song but the beat, tune, and vocals are great, and the lyrics may be simple but I like them a lot.

Favorite lyrics: “But we've been friends so long that it seems so wrong. And everyone can see you're perfect for me, but I just can't let it show.”

This song is really basic but the beat/tune and lyrics get me hyped and so does the rap verse. Some songs are just meant to be fun and that’s what this is.

Favorite lyrics: “Trembling when you touch, rush is racing, body baking.”

Everything about this song is beautiful. The lyrics, the tune, the vocals. It’s only not higher because she has so many amazing songs that this is so difficult and I listen to other songs of hers more. But I love it very much.

Favorite lyrics: “I never knew you could hold moonlight in your hands ‘til the night I held you.”

This song is beautiful! The lyrics and the vocals and the tune are so dreamy.

Favorite lyrics: “Love how my face fits so good in your neck.”

One of my favorite parts about the song is the beat/tune but the lyrics are great too and the rap verse fits well.

Favorite lyrics: “'Cause I've already been there, done that, ain’t doing this again, no.”

This song is heartbreaking, but also so beautiful in every way. It would be higher but I barely listen to it because it makes me sad. I love this song a lot though.

I know this song should be higher, I tried to make it as high as possible without changing my actual opinions too much because this song is iconic in so many ways. It’s just not one I listen to too often and it was a bit overplayed but I still love it. The message and lyrics are wonderful. Can’t believe Ari is married for real now 🥰 Favorite lyrics: “But this one gon' last, cause her name is Ari, and I'm so good with that. She taught me love, she taught me patience, how she handles pain, that shit's amazing.”

The best part about this song is the vocals but the lyrics flow so smoothly too and it’s just a really fun, cute song.

Favorite lyrics: “I want you to touch it softly like the way you do my mind.”

This used to be one of my least favorite songs. It’s now one of my favorites. It’s such a fun, uplifting, bop about empowerment and celebrating yourself and I love that. The beat/tune makes it addicting as well.

Favorite lyrics: “Say, bae, you should play with me, babe.”

The lyrics are pretty basic and kind of repetitive but it’s still such a fun bop that gets stuck in my head a lot haha. The beat is fun and fits the lyrics well.

Favorite lyrics: “Baby, you got lucky, 'cause you're rocking with the best.”

This song has everything I love about songs, the upbeat tune and great lyrics. I’m having a hard time coming up with reasons for some of these now but I don’t wanna give up!

Favorite lyrics: “You can wish a thousand times, but none of that will change my mind boy.”

This song is really simple but something about the beat mixed with the lyrics and vocals make it really relaxing and fun to listen to. At this point honestly the ranking is getting difficult because a lot of these songs I love equally, but I’m committed to this!

Favorite lyrics: “There's more love if you follow emotions.”

Another song that I’m very angry isn’t on iTunes/Spotify. I rant about it pretty often for this song because it’s so beautiful both lyrically and vocally. It would be great if it was put on iTunes for My Everything’s anniversary the way Step On Up was for Dangerous Woman’s anniversary. I can only dream.

Favorite lyrics: “Summer days with my honey, worried 'bout not a thing, back in the day when things were easier than the breeze.”

This song is a masterpiece lyrically and vocally. The tune initially made it hard for me to fully appreciate it but I’ve gotten past that because it truly is an amazing song. Once again The Weeknd and Ariana sound beautiful together.

Favorite lyrics: “So can you hold me? If I let you, can you prove it to me?”

Like I said before I truly have no interest in sex but Ariana’s vocals and lyrics make the subject not something I hate to hear about. It mostly is the vocals for this particular song but the lyrics are great too.

Favorite lyrics: “So much conversation, words so sweet. Been so well behaved, but boy, I'm weak.”

Yes this song is very simple and according to Ariana “boring”(don’t worry I respect her opinion of course) but the lyrics are very meaningful and relatable to me.

Favorite lyrics: “Even when you're yelling at me, I still think you're beautiful. Through it all you could still make my heart skip, heart skip.”

This song was higher for me when it was first released and it’s still an amazing song, like I said before most of these songs I love equally now so it’s getting harder to rank them. The lyrics in this song are super meaningful and beautiful and the tune is really pretty.

Favorite lyrics: “But now, I'm out here falling, falling, frozen, slowly thawing, got me right. I won't keep you waiting, waiting, all my baggage fading safely.”

This song used to be higher for me too and I still love it a lot, but after listening more to “Knew Better Pt. 2” I’m mad that the full song wasn’t included on the album. “Forever Boy” could have been its own song, I actually prefer “Forever Boy” over Knew Better but Knew Better Pt. 2 would have changed that. I’m glad it’s on YouTube at least, but it still sucks. I will say it’s creative that she combined Knew Better and Forever Boy though and it’s still in my top 5 on Dangerous Woman.

Favorite lyrics: (Knew Better) “Can't nobody love you like I do, baby I could do better.” (Forever Boy) “But you showed me what it means to be happy ever after, in love forever. And you gave me the key to all your love and all your pleasure, boy, you're my treasure.”

This song is the definition of a bop! And the lyrics are fun as well. I love the fun uplifting songs like this. The only thing I don’t necessarily care for is some of the background sound effects/vocals because they can be kind of distracting but other than that I love this song a lot.

Favorite lyrics: “Say, I don't know what I'd do without you in my life, it'd be so sour. I'm hoping that everybody can experience what we have in ours.”

This is a very dreamy and beautiful song, I’ll be honest it took awhile to grow on me but it’s one of my favorites now. The tune and the vocals and the lyrics are very calming and also relatable to when I just wanna stay in my dreams.

Favorite lyrics: “"I love you.” Who starts a conversation like that? Nobody, but I do.”

This song is so underrated and beautiful! The part at the end where her grandparents talk about meeting is so sweet! And the lyrics are so beautiful, yet simple.

Favorite lyrics: “Now I can't wait, to hold you in my arms, I know I was made for you, I'm in love with all of your charm.”

This song is so healing and calming and therapeutic. It’s beautiful in every way and I love it.

Favorite lyrics: “My life is so controlled by the what if's.” and “Here's one thing you can trust, it takes you and me to make us, one of those days you had enough, I'll be there.” (I couldn’t choose)

This song is great with relatable lyrics and a fun beat. The vocals are also amazing.

Favorite lyrics: “They keep calling me a head-case, ‘cause I can't make a good case why we can't change.”

I’ll probably get laughed at for this song being so high but it just makes me so happy. It always puts me in a good mood and is fun to dance and sing to.

Favorite lyrics: “I could sing about how love is a losing battle.”

I’m honestly obsessed with the lyrics of this song tbh. They’re very creative and the beat/tune is also perfect.

Favorite lyrics: “No second guessing, checking the rearview, ain’t looking back unless it's right at you.”

The lyrics of this song are very meaningful and relatable to me and her vocals are heavenly.

Favorite lyrics: “My heart has had enough of the give and take, and as much as I want you to stay.”

It’s funny because this song used to be my least favorite song on Thank U, Next but now I love it. It’s simple but I love the lyrics and the tune.

Favorite lyrics: “Let me stay in my bag 'cause I like when you mad. It's a mood, it's a vibe, it's a look, it's a match.”

I’m obsessed with the tune and the vocals on this song. Lyrically it’s not the best but it’s so fun that I can’t help but love it.

Favorite lyrics: “This time I know I'll stay witcha’, just promise you won't say nothin', don’t you be actin' like that, don't you be actin' like that, babe.”

This song is lyrically amazing and the tune is also perfect. I apologize for the short explanations! I really love this song.

Favorite lyrics: “And maybe that's just how it's supposed to be, I'm the release, you the dopamine.”

This song is really unique and different with the beat/tune but I love it. The lyrics are great too, I honestly knew I’d love it when I saw the title lol.

Favorite lyrics: “You the medication when I'm feeling anxious, that’s the kind of shit I like.”

This song is simple but it’s a beautiful and sweet song. Vocally and beat/tune wise it’s very calming and lyrically it’s really a cute song.

Favorite lyrics: “I love the thought of us in the evening, crave the feeling, the way you feel, something 'bout it's healing.”

This song indeed is magical, the instrumentals are like heaven, I love the lyrics and how positive and uplifting its message is. The vocals are gorgeous. I’m obsessed.

Favorite lyrics: “Take my pen and write some love letters to heaven.”

This song is heartbreakingly beautiful and relatable. Seriously I can relate to the lyrics so much it hurts.

Favorite lyrics: “I cried enough tears to see my own reflection in them, and then it was clear I can’t deny I really miss him.”

I love the lyrics, the vocals, and the term “safety net” is really creative and the whole concept of the song is super relatable. I also love the callback to “in my head”.

Favorite lyrics: “Is it real this time, or is it in my head? Got me tripping, falling with no safety net.”

This is lyrically one of my favorite songs. It will always be one of my favorites.

Favorite lyrics: “What happened to the butterflies? Guess they encountered that stop sign, and my heart is at a yellow light, a yellow light.”

This song may be lyrically simple but it’s such a fun and cute song and incredibly underrated in my opinion.

Favorite lyrics: “Cause you give me chills, every time we chill.”

This song is sad but it’s also beautiful and relatable at the same time.

Favorite lyrics: “Oh, I don't have you here with me, but at least I have the memory. I tried to make it through the night, but I can't control my mind.”

I’m not sure why I love this song so much, I think it’s mostly the beat and tune but I also think “don’t want you in my bloodline” was a very creative lyric.

Favorite lyrics: “I ain’t looking for my one true love, yeah that ship sailed away.”

It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize this song was a cover, but that doesn’t change how much I love it. I love that Ariana added some of her own lyrics to it and it’s just such a beautiful, dreamy, calming song, almost like a lullaby.

Favorite lyrics: “I got you, I got you dreamin', you close your eyes and you're screamin'.”

I’m obsessed with the space lyricism in this song and the tune/beat is so cool and fun. I literally love everything about this song!

Favorite lyrics: “Usually, I would orbit around you but gravity seems to be the only thing that's pulling me. You'll be my rise and shine soon as them stars align.”

This is such a beautiful song lyrically vocally and tune wise. Apparently Ariana doesn’t like it which is a shame but of course I respect her opinion. I’m just sad I’ll probably never get to hear it live, I’ve seen videos of it being performed live and it sounds so beautiful.

Favorite lyrics: “Cause we both know what we want, so why don't we fall in love?”

This song is one of the most relatable songs I’ve ever listened to, excluding the part about the party because I don’t go to those lol. Seriously, the lyrics in this song are so relatable to my life and on top of that it’s a perfect balance beat/tune wise.

Favorite lyrics: “If I’m being honest, I done been through way too much.”

This is literally a song written about me I’m not even kidding. It literally describes me completely. These are my all time favorite lyrics of hers, I’m so grateful that she made this song.

Favorite lyrics: “Lately I’ve been on a rollercoaster, tryna get a hold of my emotions, but all that I know, is I need you close.”

This song means the whole entire world to me, you have no idea. It’s gotten me through so many hard days and it’s just so beautiful, calming, and healing. The lyrics are beautifully relatable and I don’t think anything could replace this song as #1 for me. Plus the music video with her swinging in the clouds is so dreamy. 😍 Favorite lyrics: “Sometimes it’s hard to find, find my way up into the clouds, tune it out they can be so loud. You remind, me of a time, when things weren’t so complicated, all I need is to see your face.”
