An Idiots Guide To Buying A Vaporizer For The First Time

If you are new to the world of vaping, you may be a little confused as to what vaporizer to purchase. So we thought we'd help! Read through the points you must consider when buying the best vaporizer for you below.

1. Desktop or Portable Vaporizer?

Vaping Guide

This is possibly the most important area to consider. Do you think you will most likely use the vaporizer at home or on the go? Portability is key if you want to use it outside of the comfort of your own home.

You will have to consider where you will use the vaporizer most, as portable vaporizers tend not to have all the "bells and whistles" that a desktop vaporizer would have.

In general, portable vaporizers tend to be fitted with quite small chambers. Battery life is also not as great as a desktop vaporizer. If you use the vaporizer on the go quite a lot, you should expect to have to complete regular refills and recharges of the battery. There are various portable vaporizers for sale on Vaporizer Chief, for example.

2. Method of Heating

Key to the success of buying a vaporizer is choosing the method with which the vaporizer is heated. There are two ways this can be done - conduction and convection. Conduction basically occurs when heat is transferred via direct contact. Convection on the other hand is when heat is transferred via the air.

My personal advice is to look for a vaporizer that uses the convection method, as it is generally agreed amongst industry professionals that because the heating system and the material don't touch, this improves the quality of the vape. But, convection vaporizers are more expensive that conduction vaporizers!

3. Temperature Control

It is highly recommended that you buy a vaporizer which comes with some form of temperature control.

In general, the ideal temperature for vaporizing marijuana is between 180-200°C, or 356-392°F. This temperature can be difficult to identify without having a thermometer measuring the temperature within the vaporizer.

A digital dial on the vaporizer allows you to set the temperature most accurately. By vaping at a consistent temperature each time you vape, you will find the right setting and temperature that works for you very quickly.

4. Accessories for the Vaporizer

An important area to consider prior to purchasing a vaporizer is to look at the range of accessories that the device comes with.

For example, the price of the vaporizer may be quite competitive and look excellent value for money, but if the accessories are too expensive, you could end up spending far more than you first thought.

No matter what vaporizer you will end up buying, each device will need to undergo a program of maintenance and upkeep. This could be as simple as giving the device a clean, or maybe replacing certain parts of the vaporizer, such as the battery. Therefore, look at how readily replaceable the various parts of your chosen vaporizer are. Will these parts be covered under some form of warranty after you buy the device?

The best way to go about doing this is to check before you purchase!

5. Power

It is important to consider how the vaporizer is powered. This is more important when it comes to portable vaporizers, since desktop vaporizers are able to rely on a mains power source.

A significant majority of portable vaporizers will use a rechargeable battery, but some vaporizers will also use butane as a power source. Of course, the quality of the rechargeable battery will vary significantly from device to device, so make sure you do your homework!

If the battery of the vaporizer is difficult to replace because it is position internally within the device, make sure a battery replacement, should you need it, is backed up with a warranty.

We hope you have found this guide useful. Good luck with buying your next vaporizer!
