Breaking A World Record Is A Piece Of Cake

"But I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more just to eat free cake until I'm sore."

On Wednesday October 5th, Ohio University's BobcaThon is hosting a world record breaking cake walk in the Baker Center Parking Lot. There will be a pre-party at 4:30 leading up to the event at 5:30.

A cake walk is musical chairs with cake. It starts with music playing. When the beat drops, everyone walks around the circle, stepping from one numbered circle to another. As soon as the music stops, everyone stands on the number he or she is closest to. They draw a number, read it out, and the person standing on that number takes the cake!

This cake walk is no ordinary cake walk. It's a cool cake walk. Not to mention it's expected to be the biggest one in the world. The first 500 people there will break a world record, have their cake, and eat it too. A camera crew will be there taping for the Guinness Book of World Records, as well as a live stream on the BobcaThon Facebook.

The icing on the cake...it's FREE.

    What's a BobcaThon...?

BobcaThon is a year-long effort to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Columbus, Ohio. This is the largest Ronald McDonald House in the entire world. The house is a home away from home where ill children and their families can stay for free while undergoing treatment. The first dance marathon hosted during the 2014-2015 school year raised $18,173.13 for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. Last year, BobcaThon took place on February 13, 2016 and raised $40,473.01 for RMHC! As of today, BobcaThon has raised over $60,000.00 for RMHC since 2014. (That's 240,000 McNuggets to put things in perspective.)

Do it to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Do it for the cake, even. But most importantly, do it For The Kids.
