It seems like most people aren't just seeing the Barbie movie one time, leaving the theater, and then thinking to themselves, "That was fun! Now I'm going to move on with my life." Not. At. All. They're seeing it multiple times — once for the experience, and a second time to take in all the little details they originally missed (and there are PLENTY of nuances that can easily go unnoticed).
Personally, I was much too mesmerized by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling's spot-on performances as Barbie and Ken to notice lots of background details in the first go-around. But, the second time I went to see it? I couldn't help but bask in the glory of how meticulously designed the set was.
Yes, I did laugh at this horse lamp the first time (and honestly, I kinda need it in my apartment):
But during the second watch, I saw that even the bedsheets were horse-themed:
There were way more horses on screen than I originally counted, like, even in the pattern that's lining Ken's fur coat:
If you also saw Barbie more than once, we want to hear from you! When you went to see Barbie the second time around, what was something you noticed that you totally missed in your first viewing?
Maybe you were impressed by the background details, too. Like, how the mojo dojo casa house had not only one, but two lava lamps:
It doesn't have to be just the set design! Maybe you noticed that when Ken flew through the sky after running into the ocean, Allan screamed the ENTIRE time he was in the air. It gets quieter as it goes on, so it's easy to miss — but we're talkin' a solid AAAHHHH for almost 10 full seconds of comedy gold.
Perhaps there was a quote from Barbie that stuck out to you after seeing it again? Maybe a certain scene that pulled on your heartstrings more during that additional viewing?
