When I moved into my apartment, I was shocked at how FILTHY every inch of it was. I'm not kidding — I don't think it had been cleaned since it was built in the 1890s.

And because New York is New York, I had to drain my savings and promise my firstborn child in order to move in, so paying for a professional cleaner wasn't really in the cards.

After some research and reading a post by a fellow coworker, I decided to try out the Bar Keepers Friend multipurpose soft cleanser ($11.99) and powder cleaner ($5.60) so I could scrub my apartment from floor to ceiling.

I did some digging around on each product and figured the soft cleanser would be better for my stove top and the powder would work for the bathroom — though the packaging mentions either could be used.

But my apartment was in SHAMBLES, people. I couldn't take the chance, so I ended up purchasing both. Ya know, just in case.

And holy heck, where has this been my whole life?! The soft cleanser was able to erase these awful water burns on my stove. Please, just take a look for yourself:

I couldn't believe my own eyes. When I say I had tried everything to clean this stove, I mean it.

The soft cleanser comes with a non-scratch scrubbing cloth, and after two minutes of working the liquid in, the stains started to vanish. I went over it with a rag and water (per the directions), and the pic on the right was the result. I can't make this up!!! This is my very own stove!

After I cleaned the stove, the next beast was the bathtub, which I tackled with the powder. This tub didn't have just a light layer of grime — it had awful stains from sitting water. And sir, a bathtub is a place to *clean* yourself, so it should NOT be slime central!

I rinsed the bathtub with some water and then threw powder everywhere like it was New Year's Eve in 1999. Again — taking zero chances here. I immediately started scrubbing with a brush and the grossness started to disappear. Listen, I know Vegas magic shows are great and all, but it's not until you scrub 100-year-old stains out of a tub that you understand what true ~magic~ is.

And guys, my arms hardly got a workout in and the tub grime was gone in five minutes.

I didn't even know my tub could look like that!

"Ok, Kayla, but what about those pesky rust stains that one easily gets from a simple can that's been sitting somewhere too long?"

    Kayla Suazo / BuzzFeed

YUP, it can get rid of those, too!

These are actual pictures from my actual bathtub! Yes, I am slightly mortified/embarrassed, but that feeling is completely outweighed by the true joy of experiencing these results.

I can wholeheartedly say that I am no longer scared to take a shower in my own home!

Let me just leave you by adding that these all-purpose cleaners go beyond just working on stovetops and bathtubs. They can be used to clean and polish stainless steel, porcelain, fiberglass, glass cook tops, copper, tile, and brass; just to name a few. Plus, the people have spoken and these products come with the reviews to support how awesome they are: /

Promising review (powder): "This is a superior product. We have high mineral content in our water that comes from our own well. The toilet bowls accumulate deposits and have been difficult to keep really clean and free of stains. Acid-based cleaners don't work well and are smelly and dangerous. A couple of shakes of this cleanser and a modest brushing leaves the bowls spotless and free of deposit buildups. The best it has been in over 20 years." —Norman F.

Soft cleanser: "This stuff is AMAZING! I had thick, dark buildup on my once beautiful stainless-steel pans. I thought I'd have to use the whole bottle and scrub for a few hours to get it off. But no! Just a moderate about of scrubbing and about five minutes and the pots were shiny again! This will definitely be a staple in my pantry." —TheBookishHobo

I swear, you'll feel like a magician after you use this miracle cleaner!
