This quiz is not an attack on anybody, this is just an opportunity to see an array of benefits and advantages white people experience that is not shared by many people of color. To simply show that whites receive help, often unacknowledged assistance, due to their skin color.

Have You Experienced White Privilege?

If you are white you can easily choose to not learn about white privilege and the struggles people of color are experiencing around you. If you are a person of color racism is not something you must only learn about but it is part of your history.

Do you have to learn about racism?

"Nevertheless, White people have been using the invention of race, through policy and legislation, to systematically benefit White people from as early as the colonial era. And when overt racism (finally) became socially unacceptable—after, of course, vast inequality had become deeply entrenched in every aspect of political, social, and economic life—we switched to colorblindness, making it virtually impossible to address this societal inequality" (Greenberg)

Is color blindness an option for you?

Do you have the privilege of escaping your races violent stereotypes? "White supremacists (who tend to be White) have perpetuated more terrorism in the United States than any foreign threat. The Southern Poverty Law Center connects nearly 100 killings to a single White supremacist website, Stormfront (whose users also tend to be White). And though I share a similar skin color as these violent White people, I move about free from violent stereotypes—and I haven’t even brought up all the famous White serial killers!" (Greenberg)

Do you have the privilege of escaping your races violent stereotypes?

It is a known bias in media that when a person of color is discussed in media the picture that is used is an unfavorable picture, whether that be a mugshot or something else unflattering, and this is whether they are the victim or the criminal. If a white person criminal or victim is discussed in the media the photo is almost always a positive class picture with a positive description to accompany it, such as ; "Genius AP science student charged with manslaughter".

Do you have the media leaning in your favor due to your race?

“of 3,200 children’s books published in 2013, just 93 were about Black people.” (Myers)

Do you have the privilege of finding children’s books and other media that represent your race?

White privilege is your history being part of the core curriculum and mine being taught as an elective.

Did you have the privilege of learning about your race in school uncensored or unedited?

"If you are Black and poor, however, you are nearly 19 times more likely to live in concentrated poverty than poor White Americans." (Greenberg)

Did you have the privilege/oppurtunity of attending segregated schools of affluence?

"In my hometown of Seattle, Black middle school students are nearly four times as likely to be suspended as White students, a reality that has attracted an investigation by the federal government. One federal study found similar disparities start as early has preschool." (Greenberg)

As a child were you favored by school authorities?

Tamir Rice, Dajerria Becton, Jonathan Ferrell, Paul Castaway, Rekia Boyd, Walter Scott, Eric Garner, Antonio Zambrano-Montes, Michael Brown, Tanisha Anderson, Natasha McKenna, Freddie Gray, Sandra Bland, Sarah Lee Circle Bear; Are only a few of the people of color who have experienced unfair treatment from police due to there skin color.

Have you ever had an unfavorable interaction with the police due to no fault of your own?
