Seasons are different everywhere across the country, but there is something special about the fall at Penn State. This 40,000 undergrad institution has it's own way of telling its students that fall is here and here to stay...until its winter and a brisk 15 degrees that is.

When Fall semester starts, so does Greek Life. Every Fall hundreds of girls and guys go out looking for a family in Greek Life. From the open houses to the iconic Bid Day madness on Old Main lawn, let the fun begin!

3. The Colors Are Changing

What once was green all over campus is now hundreds of different shades of orange, yellow, and red. The weather is changing and changing fast, yesterday it was sunny and 80 degrees and tomorrow is rainy and 50 degrees.

4. State Squirrels

Penn State is known for its bold squirrels roaming the campus, but when its fall you might see these animals out and about even more storing up for winter.

5. Farmer's Markets

Fall brings all the seasonal treats from pumpkin bread and butternut squash to a stack of 100 carrots. Every day of the week you can find the Farmer's Market on Locust Street buzzing with all the vendors and locals looking for some fresh produce rain or shine.

Fall is only the start of the hundreds of days of preparation that go into THON! A few months out from the big dance, the theme hasn't even been announced, but it doesn't stop the students from canning on fall weekends to raise money For The Kids.

Penn State is known for many things: football, THON, and being awesome, but lets not forget about the legendary fall sunsets. You can get the best view of these October sunsets from Old Main lawn.

8. Saturdays are for Football

The fall is characterized by leaves falling and changing the colors from green to yellow and orange, but here at Penn State the colors are different. You know it's officially fall when the colors on saturday are not those of traditional autumn, but of Blue and White covering the campus on Football Saturdays.
