How To Keep Your Spring Break Body - AFTER Spring Break

Your summer body can thank me later

Posted on

It’s that time of year again, the awkward period between Spring break and summer. You’ve just spent the weeks (or maybe days) leading up to spring break working out and eating healthy to get that perfect “spring break bod” that everyone talks about, but now its time to get back to the reality of nonstop studying and stress – and the last thing you want to think about is fitting in fruits and vegetables and maybe lifting a weight or two. Don’t let all your hard work go to waste, keeping yourself in check is easier than you think with these simple tips:

1. Detox To Reset Your Body

Lets be honest, eating healthy and running on the beach weren’t exactly priorities over spring break. A detox will help remove any harmful toxins you may have in your body leftover from your carefree week. This could mean ordering a juice cleanse, drinking a lot of water or throwing in greens wherever you can – kinda like a “spring cleaning”. It helps boost your energy levels, which will motivate you to stay in shape.

2. Drink Green Tea

Drinking green tea is one of the healthiest things you can do for your body. The benefits you receive are more extensive than you think. Not only is it filled with antioxidants to keep your body healthy, but it also increases fat burning and boosts your metabolism. Studies have shown that drinking green tea even helps keep your stomach flat – and isn’t that the goal anyway?

3. Buy Healthy Food – Avoid Junk Food

With new spring break destinations come new (usually unhealthy) food choices. Unfortunately it’s hard to try to break away from those delicious burgers and fries after a week of unhealthy indulgences. So, the key is to stick to only buying healthy food choices at the grocery store and avoiding the junk food isles all together. The less temptation you give yourself, the better. Because after all we are only human.

4. Exercise Every Day

This doesn’t mean you have to commit to weight training in the gym or attending workout classes on a daily basis – just try to fit in some sort of exercise that will make you break a sweat (a mile walk or a quick jog will do the trick.) When you get into a routine it’s easier to stay motivated to keep exercising. The minute you stop is when it becomes harder to stay motivated and jump back in.

5. Exercise With Friends

It’s always easier to go to the gym when you’re with people you enjoy. Create a group message with your friends who also like to work out (or at least want to stay in shape.) Use the group message to motivate each other to stay active and on track by sending fun Pinterest workouts or pictures of all those Victoria Secret models who don’t ever seem to skip a day in the gym.

Following these five easy steps will steer you into the path of turning your spring break bod into a summer bod and being healthy and happy all year long.
