Winky is the Crouch family house elf who knew the family's darkest secrets and yet was freed by Barty Crouch Sr. for stealing Harry's wand during the Quidditch World Cup. Winky didn't want to be freed and begrudgingly began working in the Hogwarts kitchen, drinking heavily while doing so.

Who had a drinking problem throughout the series?

The party is the 500th anniversary of Nick's death, which ghosts weirdly celebrate. The grossest part about this is the molded and overly rotten food, that smells terrible to anyone who is alive. However, the ghosts fly (or float?) through the food, because the smell is so strong that by passing through it, they can almost "taste it". While this may seem random, it's nice to see that Harry, Ron, and Hermione attend it. Normally deathday parties are only attended by people who are, well, dead. By having the trio go, it shows just how much they care. It also makes Nick pretty popular among his ghost friends that he has living people there to celebrate.

Who celebrated their 500th Deathday Party?

Squibs, in simplest terms, are non-magical people born into magical families, which brings about a lot of guilt and shame. It's not the most common thing, but it does happen. The most famous Squib that we all know is Argus Filch, the not so lovable caretaker. The movies portray him as a background character and no one really cares about him. However, if you knew his backstory, you might actually feel a bit bad for the guy. Knowing this might even help you to understand why he's such a jerk- he works in a school with a bunch of magical kids, and he has to clean up after then without magic. Sucks really. There was a chance at the Squib plotline in Chamber of Secrets, where Harry and Ron find an envelope on the floor. The letter is from Kwikspell, and this scene shows how much Filch wants to fit in by trying to do magic. It's super sad really. Even more sad that the scene was deleted from the movie's final cut.

If you didn't read the books, then you have no idea what is is, or that this had it's own plotline for a few of the books. Harry Potter taught a lot of lessons through it's plots, and this one is no different. S.P.E.W. was created by Hermione and stands for "Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare". She began this because she saw just how badly house elves were treated at the 1994 Quidditch World Cup, and she wanted to make a change. The point Rowling had when writing this is to show the breaking down of prejudices and inhumane hierarchy for all creatures.

Peeves was a poltergeist that has lived in Hogwarts since it's beginning. He loves causing mayhem throughout the castle, and was a constant pain to everyone, especially Filch. The only people that are able to control him are Dumbledore and the Bloody Baron (The Slytherin Ghost). The best part about Peeves was how much he pranked Dolores Umbridge, who we all know is even worse than Voldemort. His pranks not only on her, but throughout the rest of the series, added some light hearted comic relief. He even helped fight against Voldemort at the Battle of Hoqwarts. After Harry and the good guys won, Peeves went around singing a victory song, which made us all smile after such huge loss. While he may be annoying at times and cause a headache for everyone, Peeves was definitely an important part of the books.

The decision to take out Rita Skeeter's Goblet of Fire subplot — that she's an unregistered animagus and gets all her scoops as a literally bug — makes sense, but it's still too bad. It's not that fans care a lot about Rita Skeeter, but that the story of how Hermione figured out her secret and trapped her is so badass.

Mr Weasley’s body replaced Bill’s, his glasses askew, a trickle of blood running down his face.
‘No!’ Mrs Weasley moaned. ‘No … riddikulus! Riddikulus! RIDDIKULUS!’

‘Mrs Weasley, just get out of here!’ shouted Harry, staring down at his own dead body on the floor."

In the films, it is revealed that Neville's parents were tortured by Bellatrix, and that Neville grew up with his Nan. However, most assume his parents are dead. WRONG! They are actually very much alive, and living in the mental ward in St. Mungo's. Here's the saddest part: they have no idea who Neville is. Neville could have been the chosen one, but Voldemort picked Harry. Yes it's sad that James and Lily are dead, but I think it's even more upsetting that Frank and Alice Longbottom don't know their own son.

Harry's final departure from the Dursley home was rather wonderful. From Dumbledore conjuring drinks out of midair to bonk the family in the head during his collection, to his ever-polite way of shaming them for their mistreatment of Harry, to the family's unexpected reactions to Harry' fate, it's a shame it wasn't included. Petunia looked fearful for Harry, understanding on some level what he was up against, while Dudley flat out said, "I don’t think you’re a waste of space," shaking Harry's hand. This last bit was included in a deleted scene.
