After experiencing the joyous occasion of the birth of their son, Ryan Grassley and his wife, both of Spanish Fork, Utah, were then met with the less-than-joyous task of paying their hospital bill. Included in the whopping $13K bill (how's that for birth control?) was a charge for "Skin-To-Skin Contact" after his wife's C-section for the low, low price of $39.35!
Grassley posted a photo of the itemized bill on Reddit, explaining "During the C-section, the nurse asked my wife if she would like to do skin to skin after the baby was born. Which of course anyone would say yes [to]." He also explained that the nurse "even borrowed my camera to take a few pictures for us."
Little did he know that even a moment like holding your baby for the first time isn't as priceless a moment as those MasterCard commercials say.
Given all the attention his post gained on Reddit, Grassley set up a GoFundMe campaign to offset this particular charge, and raised the $39.35, and then some, in no time.
Grassley says he plans to put $40 towards the bill and the rest of the proceeds will go towards a vasectomy, "because I never want to go though these sleepless new baby nights again."
