But one thing the series has been consistent with is serving up the drama and cringe-worthy moments.
So, when I saw that just the other week, this season's Molly suffered a savage surprise dumping, I knew I had to take a trip down memory lane.

The verdict: 100% cringe-worthy and awkward.
When an exciting night in the hideaway turns into a disaster, you know it's a good episode. Tom had a chance to join Maura in the private retreat, but he let his mouth run away with distasteful and derogatory comments about Maura...who overheard. An absolute classic display of karma.

Love Island series: Australia, Season 3
The verdict: Damn right messy
The girls gather round to read a magazine they just received, but it's no Vogue... the catch is it's one that dishes all of the dirt on the boys who have strayed away in the girls' absence. Lexy is the most surprised and upset by Ryan's kissing pictures, and on the whole, it's an uncomfortable and awkward watch to see someone get so upset.
3. That time Rachel found out this shocking news from Caroline Flack:

The verdict: Where's the tumbleweed?
Just as Rachel is talking about how much she likes Rykard and wants to see him after being dumped, Caroline Flack drops the biggest bomb going in this crazy uncomfortable moment...poor Rachel learns that Rykard had slipped into another girl's bed whilst still coupled up with her, and she had no idea until she was voted out. What a way to find out the news...ouch!

The verdict: Cover your eyes from the awkwardness!
In one of the most jaw-dropping raunchy sequences in Love Island history, Emma and Terry make no attempt to hide their steamy antics in the bedroom. The result? All islanders wake to the commotion and can't help but to look on in shock. Complete with hilarious editing and commentary from the production team, you can't help but laugh whilst also thanking the universe that you were not one of the poor people present in the bedroom that night. Awks!

The verdict: An absolute messy move!
Not even a day after choosing to re-couple with Jess, Jordan and Rachel have a sneaky (but not-so-sneaky daytime kiss). Their seemingly innocent chat starts in the kitchen where Rachel even admits that Jess and Jordan look nice together, but they soon end up in the bedroom where a cringe-worthy display of flirting leads to a cheeky kiss. I mean, I'm here for the drama with this messy move because I did not see this coming so quickly.

Love Island series: Australia, Season 4
The verdict: Messy, awkward...you name it!
Though Mitch and Phoebe were going strong since day one, it didn't stop him joining in a risqué dare with bombshell Phoebe H. Callum and Vakoo dared the pair to let Phoebe H. undo Mitch's shirt and lick him from his waist to his chest, and kiss him on the cheek. Then, in an awkwardly timed eavesdrop session, Phoebe comes around the corner to see and hear the whole thing.
What's super uncomfortable about this moment is how visibly upset Phoebe seems to be, even walking off and falling to her knees in hysterics...all the while Mitch gets on with finishing his dare. This is one of the most horrible watches on our list, and it just shows the brutal nature of how an islander's actions can impact another so easily.

Love Island series: UK, Season 2
The verdict: 100% wild.
There's so much going on in this scene, but it has to be one of the most memorable for the pure chaos of it all. How? It all comes to blows when Malia accuses Kady of spilling her wine on her leg on purpose, then it all kicks off from there with a shouting match and getting a little too up close and personal. It's an unsightly and embarrassing argument, which results in Malia getting kicked off of the show...after a mere three hours of being there! Drama, drama, drama!
9. The re-coupling time when Michael left Amber to stand alone:

Love Island series: UK, Season 5
The verdict: So awkward you could hear a pin drop.
In what should have been a post-Casa Amor reunion, Michael decides to couple up with Joanna in Amber's absence, only for Amber to walk in alone, showing she chose loyalty to Michael over re-coupling with any of the new boys. This is one of the most awkward re-couplings to date, with meme-worthy reaction material from the fellow islanders, and an intense stare off between the previously romantic duo. 10/10 for awkwardness.

The verdict: Tense and uncomfortable.
This is a memorable moment for me because of how weird and uncomfortable I felt for Jess in this situation.
During a games night, Jess's outfit causes a little wardrobe malfunction, and once she fixes it, she laughs to Aaron about how she had a boob-slip. A perfectly harmless moment, Aaron's face seems to change to one like thunder, and he very much looks like he's giving Jess the cold shoulder. Naturally upset by his reaction, Jess pulls Aaron up on it, and he disagrees with the whole thing stating that he was fine. I don't know about you, but the moment felt really odd, and it got my back up about whether or not Aaron would be a controlling partner. What do you think, was it a genuine mix-up, or was Jess's gut right?
11. How about that moment when Liam thought he would get away with his Casa Amor actions:

Love Island series: UK, Season 7
The verdict: Pure savage
It's always the re-couplings, isn't it? In this series, Millie came back to the main villa as a single lady after Casa Amor, proving her loyalty to Liam. In what looked like a heartfelt moment, Millie was pleased to see Liam had also not strayed. But she didn't know what viewers, and what Liam's other new interest, Lillie, knew.
Of course, the new girl, Lillie, didn't let Liam get away with his antics and rightly threw him under the bus. In this clip, you could cut the tension with a knife as you can clearly see Millie and Liam both looking uneasy before the shocking revelation.
12. This awkward across-the-room row between Zeta and Timmy:

Love Island series: USA, Season 4
The verdict: So awkward for the other housemates!
The "damn, why you got to do that when I'm right here" from Sereniti is what had me belly-laughing throughout.
Another classic outburst from Zeta sees her take no prisoners as she shouts across the villa at Timmy, but the absolute memorable highlight of this moment is Sereniti's reaction as she sits back awkwardly, looking like she wants the couch to swallow her up. Hilarious!
13. And when storm Anna entered the villa:

The verdict: "Oh shit, here we go..."
In this fiery Love Island face-off, Anna accuses Jordan of using their relationship to win the show, as he spends his time chatting up India, not long after making Anna his girlfriend.
I mean, Jordan's face says it all...he went into panic-mode when he saw Anna walking toward him as he sat there and tried to chat up India. Too awkward, and who can forget Anna's explosive and argumentative style?!
14. The moment Dom's lie detector test throws him under the bus:

The verdict: Awkward. Truth.
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies...that's what Dom was singing to himself as he answered his lie detector test questions, apparently. In this super uncomfortable (but come on, funny) challenge, Dom virtually fails all of his questions — a Love Island record-setter perhaps?
Amidst giggles and pure shock at his results, Dom's fibs potentially include a secret crush on Tayla, and how he may have went on Love Island to increase his following. All of this didn't bode too well with his current partner, Shelby.

Love Island series: UK, Season 5
The verdict: Mind-boggling messy, and hella awkward.
In one of the most widely known and quotable Love Island moments, Amy wears her heart on her sleeve and pours out four weeks of emotions onto Curtis, only for him to turn around and say, "Yes, but I also want to be the person that gets up and makes everyone a coffee so everyone's ready for the morning." Talk about a punch in the gut? This is the kind of stuff you cannot write... Amy and Curtis were on two very different pages, but it's definitely his cold-hearted responses and lack of empathy that makes this a clip you can't stop thinking back to.
16. Does anyone remember Hugh's awfully timed display of affection to Lexy?
Love Island series: Australia, Season 3.
The verdict: The ultimate cringe-worthy, poorly timed moment.
Imagine if you decided to ask your islanders to help you put on a cute performance to win over the girl you like, but she decides to cut things off with you right before the planned surprise starts. But then, what if the in-on-it islanders didn't know and still went through with the singing performance thinking all is going well?
No, surely not. Surely...wait, what?!
17. And this awkwardly tense re-coupling with Dami and Indiyah:

The verdict: W-T-Actual-F.
In one of the most tense and heated re-couplings, both Dami and Indiyah choose to couple up with someone new after their separate Casa Amor experiences. You think that would go down relatively well, since they made the same decisions, right?
Wrong. What results is a pure pot-kettle situation where both islanders are visibly (and verbally) angry with each other, whilst their new side-interest is on their arm. Could it literally be any more awkward whilst also making no sense?!

The verdict: Ouch, just ouch.
When it comes to a Love Island challenge, the aim of the game is to usually impress. So, it was super a super sore and awkward moment when Rachel flew down the side and face-planted the fence.
If that wasn't embarrassing enough during a supposedly sexy challenge, the worst part was the silence after and how very few islanders seemed to really check if she was okay. Maybe it was bad editing, but my gut feeling was that the fellow islanders could have lifted her spirits and made the moment much less awkward!

The verdict: Explosive!
After two boys are chosen to be dumped by a group of fellow islanders, the Australian villa comes to blows. Erin has a bee in her bonnet because she heard the other group say what they have done was unforgivable, and her confrontation causes two of the boys to get into a physical fight! Safe to say everyone's actions completely spiraled and got totally out of hand, making for some pretty tense drama.
