So you bought an awesome loaf of bread, but you've neglected it for days. It's probably stale by now.

But wait β€” don't throw it out. Bon AppΓ©tit has a genius solution.

First, be sure your loaf isn't moldy. There is a limit to the life-saving magic you can work.

Then run your bread under water. No, seriously, it'll help.

Pop it in the oven.

Either use your oven's "warm" setting or set if to 300 to 325 degrees. Six to seven minutes should do the trick, unless the whole loaf ended up drenched. Then shoot for 10 to 12.
