I Binge Watched The Haunting Of Hill House And I'm Still So Confused

Hours of my weekend gone and I'm left with so many questions about what really happened to the Craine family.

1. Why does everyone hate Steve so much??

I get it, Steve was the shittiest sibling at the start, but didn't all Craine siblings commit some sort of heinous deed that should by all means lump them in the category of 'horrible people' as well?? For example, Theo tried making out with Shirley's husband but she's still a gift to us all.

2. No one ever explained the scene where little Nell becomes invisible during the night of the storm.

Look, I get it, this scene is some symbolic way of explaining how the siblings will go on to ignore Nellie when she literally calls for help. What I do NOT understand is how this little girl went missing?? for what seemed like a significant chunk of time. Also how did this happen, where did she go, is there an alternative dimension she went to, and why?

3. Where do Theo's powers come from?

This is what I find one of the most confusing things. Theo is the only kid with any discernible type of supernatural powers. I get that ghosts in themselves are technically supernatural, but it seems like for the most part this family is pretty normal (as in sans power). So why does sweet little Theo have to have the ability to see/feel everything when she touches someone??? And why does everyone just accept it? And don't her hands get clammy under those gloves in the summer?

4. While we're on Theo, who tf was the person that crawled into her bed one night??

Perhaps it was the bent neck lady ((AKA Nell)) actually coming into bed to comfort her? That's the only logical explanation I can give for the one and only child who is capable of ~feeling~ people by touch not knowing who IS CLIMBING INTO HER BED AND TOUCHING HER!!! "Whose hand was I holding?" Yeah, I think we all need answers here.

5. What are Olivia's color storms?

Something is really going on with Olivia and storms. This women mentioned them way too much for them not to be some sort of vital part of her psyche ok. First she calls her "migraines" color storms then tells Theo that she too has special powers that might actually be her migraines. Then she tells this extra long unprompted story to poor Mrs. Dudley who just has to sit there and listen to this grown woman talking about how her father died and she cried on the night of a storm.

6. Who is Mr. Bowler Hat Man?

Luke's ghost is never truly explained fully. Is it supposed to be Luke? We know that the man is tall, floating, wearing Luke's big boy hat, and has a cane. Is it the dead man in the wall? Who was the dead man in the wall? Why would he be the one haunting Luke? Is Luke haunting himself just like Nell. Maybe it's a twin thing.

7. Why did all bad things seem to happen to Nell?

I mean c'mon. Nell was the youngest, and arguably the most vulnerable. She had a good thing going for her with Andy and her happy life in LA. She was on medication. She was happy. She deserved to be happy. Everything else is confetti.
