Ted's motto is believe. If we believe then we can take risks. We can move thousands of miles away and coach something that we know nothing about. Believing allows us to do crazy amazing things. Ted is not complacent in his ignorance or being arrogant. He has faith that not only that he can learn and succeed but that the people around him can help him. Ted makes the joke that ghosts should believe in themselves. We all need to believe a little more in ourselves.

Reach out to others

Often times we fear to reach out others from fear of being rejected. The only way to have relationships, we need to make the first move. The best relationships take work and Ted puts in the work (baking many biscuits). He reaches out and does not give up but let's Rebecca come around on her own terms. Sometimes just letting someone know you are there is enough. But that takes active work. Ted also reaches out to the team by opening a suggestion box, keeping a line open. Most of the suggestions are insults but he leaves the line open. Reach out to others even when they don't give back.

Be a goldfish. Cleanse yourself of ghosts.

Don't let the past dictate your future. Learn from the past, don't wallow in it. Change the things you can and have the strength to move through the ones that you can't. You are not your worst mistake. Curses can be broken. mistakes can be forgiven

Unlock your unused talent

Sometimes we have talents and skills, we don't think we can unlock. Roy comes to Ted for help and Ted skillfully turns him away. This forcing Roy to unlock his leadership skills. Sometimes others see more in ourselves than we do. Ted concludes that Roy is the one. "If we're gonna make an impact here, the first domino need to fall right inside of that man's heart." Ted also encourages an insecure Nate by hearing him out and trying out his play. Sometimes we need to be the encourager and sometimes we need to be the encouraged.

Mutual respect

You don't need to like someone, just have mutual respect. Don't be a "Rupert" have respect for the people around you.

Don't take pleasure in the pain of others'. This idea that humanity is a team project and that when one person fails, we all fail. Schadenfreude does not make use feel better in the long term and it is toxic and never as satisfying as we imagine. The whole first season is about Rebecca searching for schadenfreude and that being her flaw and her undoing.

Make that extra Pass

Teamwork makes the dream work. If you can make that extra pass then that means you are never alone. Sometimes we make that extra pass and we lose. But sometimes that extra pass is the one thing that saves us. ego can trip us up and it is an act of courage to lose the ego and ask for help for the greater good of the team. But when you share the work, the highs are higher and the lows are lessened.

It is okay to let go and move on.

Whether it is a marriage of career, we need to be able move on and moving on is apart of life. Life is a series of turning points. Making those pivots are hard and sharp turns are scary but it is the people in your life that help you through it.

Love what you do. Be completely enthusiastic about what you are doing. That joy rubs off on others. That mindset will help you achieve your goal.

Ask Questions. Ted asks Nate his name and Nate says no one has asked for his name before. Even when Ted is interviewed by Trent Crimm, he can't help but ask questions. Sometimes asking questions does not only benefit you but it helps the person you ask. Everyone is a protagonist in their own story. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

You might feel like you are alone but If you just look around there are people there for you. Sometimes you think no one is there for you but someone is there.
