Like many, you graduate high school, and the immediate plan following your final “childhood summer” is to go to your college of choice. Those years are filled with self-discovery, testing limits, making lifelong relationships, and forging the path for your future.
Regardless of the journey, certain cultural staples help define those times and bring back immediate memories when brought back up in conversation. And if you’re near my age (we won’t divulge that information here), you know being enrolled in college sometime between 2008–2012 was a fantastic time to be alive.
Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane and tap into some memories you'll only remember if you were in college during this time.
.You were the last generation of college students to actively save files on this.
.You likely voted for the first time, and President Obama became president.
.MySpace had died out, but Facebook was THE social media platform.
.The T-Mobile Sidekick was THE phone of choice.
.And then came the iPhone.
.A little bit later, you had the first iPad.
.This sign was everywhere.
.Lil Mama became the guest artist that was never meant to be there.
.You definitely remember this franchise of The Real Housewives premiering.
.When it was time to go out for a good time, the flyer looked like this.
.What's a list of college memories without a Beyoncé mention? That means you remember everyone wanting to put a ring on.
.And before there was FaceTime, we video chatted with our friends on the computer like this.
