Spotify Playlist Promotion - Replacing Radio As A Means Of Promotion?

I have a lot of musician friends and they're all jumping on the Spotify bandwagon. With the slow demise of Soundcloud, it seems that Spotify is now the go-to platform. Unlike Apple music, Deezer and many of the other streaming companies, Spotify allows every user to create their own personal playlists. Some of these curators have been able to build up quite large followings, making their playlists valuable for artists.

A large number of rock and alternative artists are moving towards streaming as a way to gain fans for their music.
