Journalists Are Spilling The Tea And Calling Out Rude Celebrities On Twitter

Turns out professionalism is a two-way street 👀

In a world where stars are constantly doing press, there are plenty of examples online where celebrities call out interviewers for their rude questions.

However, we rarely hear from journalists, who can be treated with equally poor behaviour from their celebrity interviewees.

Earlier this week, writer Larry Fitzmaurice asked his fellow journalists on Twitter to reveal what their worst interview experience was. And the responses left no tea unspilled.

Writers: what’s the worst interview you’ve ever conducted. Mine was Mazzy Star—David Roback accused me of trying to psychoanalyze him so I hung up

Journalists are flocking to the thread as a chance to finally hold celebrities accountable for their unprofessional conduct.

@lfitzmaurice Quavo and takeoff. Started by hotboxing cubicle at 300 office and then gave me less than one word answers for 20 minutes. I just left lol

Some famous faces mentioned in the tweet's responses include Future, Miles Teller, Courtney Love, Lupe Fiasco and G-Eazy.

@lfitzmaurice future laid down on the office couch & gave me one word answers for exactly 11 minutes in 2012

@lfitzmaurice Miles Teller asked if I thought he was “buff” during an interview, then gave me one word answers and said he didn’t believe me when I said the audience cheered when his asshole character got shot

@lfitzmaurice talked to Courtney Love about Empire while she was in a car on the way to the airport, nightmare

@lfitzmaurice lupe fiasco said "pass" and "won't answer that" to the first five questions i asked, he sucks

@lfitzmaurice i thanked g e*zy for his time and he refused to look at or speak to me

Some tweets were written as blind items, in which we're left to solve the mystery of which star diva-ed it up.

@lfitzmaurice A superstar female pop singer yelled at her publicists in front of me and told them she didn't want them to look at her again. She then played it off like she was joking. She performed later that night and needed a teleprompter for her big single at the time.

@lfitzmaurice Once a rapper who shall remain nameless (I’m still scared) had his wife sit next to him throughout the entire interview. She rolled her eyes at me the entire time 😬

Others took the thread as an opportunity to highlight exceptional celebrity behaviour, which included shoutouts to Kendrick Lamar, Liz Phair, Saorise Ronan and Miss Piggy.

@lfitzmaurice The best? Liz Phair for Guyville oral history. Also, once doing followups over the phone on Kendrick SPIN cover story, my then toddler son grabbed a knife off the kitchen counter, and Kendrick talked me through disarming him.

@akgrl33 @lfitzmaurice Saoirse Ronan. Always so so lovely when I’ve talked to her. And also Miss Piggy ❤️ 99% of celebs are nice and understand your job is to make them and their movie look good

And hey, just like journalists, celebrities are entitled to their bad days and can suffer from misunderstandings, like this unfortunate example with Demi Lovato...

@lfitzmaurice I asked Demi Lovato how she stays cool for the summer and she said “what?”

@SkySmokeMirror @lfitzmaurice honestly same!!! i eventually explained why i asked her this and she said "water, i guess"

    But sometimes...

    @lfitzmaurice Deadmau5. Biggest asshole I’ve ever met.

@ValerieComplex @lfitzmaurice Super rude, horrible to his team, kept his stupid helmet on throughout the whole interview. One word answers. Was explicitly told not to ask him about the helmet so I kept it to music- he was a dick so I was like “tell me about your helmet” then he talked about it for 10 minutes.

@ValerieComplex @lfitzmaurice He was live-streaming his recording process so I was like “do you think that level of transparency affects the outcome at all?” And he said “I don’t think you know what transparency means. You think I get up on stage and I’m see-through? My computer is see-through?”

...people are just rude. Here's to professional conduct in the workplace and holding celebrities to the same standards as interviewers.
