    Thoughts On Dauntless

From the company that brought you Fortnite.

    What is Dauntless?

Dauntless is a multiplayer game where you hunt monsters, called behemoths. Unlike Epic Games' Fortnite, this game is a player versus environment style game. (PvE)

This game is free to play and is similar to Capcom's Monster Hunter series. However, this game offers a unique feature. Dauntless has crossplay so people who use PC can play with people on consoles.

In Dauntless, you have a limited selection of weapons. There are swords, hammers, chain blades, axes, war pikes, and ostian repeaters.

There are behemoths with different types. Behemoths can have a neutral, blaze, frost, shock, terra, umbral, and radiant type. Your weapons and armor can be stronger or weaker depending on the behemoth's type.

Similar to Monster Hunter, you can create weapons and armor based on behemoth parts. Compared to Monster Hunter, Dauntless has less grinding required.

Not all weapons and armor are created equally. Each can offer a different stat bonus to aid you on hunts. You can also equip cells to your weapons and armor. These cells can create effects to increase damage, resistance, or aid your team.

    Where it falls flat

Like any new game, there are glitches. However, the game is likely to see more patches in the future.

If you play with random players, you cannot identify any stats. You can be with allies who can kill behemoths with ease. But you can also be with allies who can weigh your team down.

Armor loadouts are not easily saved, and you may struggle to equip everything you need.

There is a weak tutorial that does not teach you all the information about the game. You learn a bit about the sword, but only the sword.

Characters dialogue does not have captions. Not only does it make this game less accessible, but it is easy to miss information.

    Final Thoughts

The game is limited, but for a free game, it is not that bad.

I see this game as a good test to determine if you like the PvE style game.

The game can be regularly updated, and there is room for improvement.
