6 Pokémon That Prove Generation 1 Is As Imperfect As Its Peers

We all know someone who argues that the designs for Pokémon in later generations are less than, or more bizarre than the original 151. Here is some happy evidence to the contrary.

1. Tangela

How exactly is Tanegla, a ball of vines without a face and a random pair of sneakers, a realistic design for a Pokémon? IT HAS SHOES!!! And not to mention no hands to tie said shoes... flaws? You bet.

2. Exeggcute

Half a dozen eggs, probably rotten, that are a Grass/Psychic type. Since when are eggs plants? Does this mean eggs are vegan now? It's okay, it will evolve into a palm tree with coconuts. Makes perfect sense.

3. Jynx

To be fair, the Pokémon Company wishes they got a do-over on this one. In fact the art above is a do-over. Because, as any fan of Red/Blue/Green will tell you, Jynx was originally black. Despite all the racial overtones, Jynx is still an almost human with a bad wig and an off-the-rack dress that doesn't fit.

4. Chansey

Ok, so it looks like an egg. It's holding an egg. It eats its own eggs and feeds them to other Pokémon, and throws them at enemies as bombs... Seriously, maybe Japan has come up with a lot more uses for the egg than we realize.

5. Lickitung

Ok... so what is it? Other than creepy? This is the Pokémon that made our moms go "WTF did I just buy you?"

6. Machamp

It's like if 1980s Arnold Schwarzenegger was cloned to have two sets of arms and gray skin and fish fins instead of hair. Oh an two toes each...

Not to mention, how the hell are you going to be this thing's master? If there's a Pokémon that would start a revolution against humans, it's Machamp.
