Jodie Comer Left Her Broadway Show After 10 Minutes Because Of The Wildfire Smoke

    Smoke from Canadian wildfires has engulfed New York City since Tuesday.

    The air quality in New York City is so bad that Jodie Comer couldn’t go on with her Broadway show.

    The Killing Eve alum is starring in Prima Facie, a one-woman play at the Golden Theatre in Times Square.

    She’s earning rave reviews for her performance as a criminal defense lawyer reckoning with sexual assault.

    However, she stopped a matinee performance Wednesday after finding it difficult to breathe amid the wildfire smoke engulfing New York City and much of the Northeast.

    Variety reported that Jodie stopped her production after just 10 minutes, telling the audience she couldn’t breathe, before being ushered offstage by a stage manager.

    A representative for the production told BuzzFeed in a statement that the performance quickly began again from the top with Jodie’s understudy, Dani Arlington, stepping in.

    Since Tuesday, smoke from wildfires in Canada has spread across parts of that country and the United States. The New York Times reported that air alerts have been raised from Minnesota to Massachusetts.
