It's Barbie-mania! The new film about the legendary doll is out in theaters, and it seems like it's all anyone can talk about right now.
1. Margot Robbie stars as the titular character, and she really nailed the physical appearance of the doll. Yes, even her arched foot. Movies based on children's toys (and subsequently updated children's toys based on successful movies about said children's toys like this Barbie doll below) are nothing new.
Just look at the Transformers and Trolls franchises, for example.
In particular, though, Barbie joins the ranks of several dolls that were eventually the subjects of live-action films. So here are 15 other actors who brought actual dolls to life on screen. Soon, Lily Collins as Polly Pocket will join their ranks. Margot and Lily, you're in good company:

G.I. Joe:
In 2009, the long-running action figure franchise G.I. Joe finally made its way to the big screen. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra starred Channing Tatum as Duke, Dennis Quaid as Hawk, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Heavy Duty. A sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, came out in 2013 with Dwayne Johnson playing Roadblock. In 2021, Snake Eyes with Henry Golding as the titular character became the most recent film in the franchise.

American Girl dolls are no stranger to the screen. Live-action adaptions of the iconic toy brand have been released for nearly two decades, starting with AnnaSophia Robb as Samantha in 2004. She's joined by the likes of Shailene Woodley, Abigail Breslin, Marsai Martin, and Olivia Rodrigo, among others who've played these legendary dolls.
