The Most Memorable Street Basketball Movie Scenes

Basketball is a language everyone can speak, and Hollywood has reminded us of this in many movies - even those whose plots were not based around the sport. Here are some favorites, inspired by Jordan’s #RISEABOVE CONDITIONS short.

1. He Got Game (1998)

Denzel Washington’s character plays his son, one on one to work out their differences in this powerful scene from Spike Lee’s “He Got Game”.

2. Rebound: The Legend of Earl The Goat Manigault (1996)

In addition to award-winning actors such as Don Cheadle and James Earl Jones, Basketball greats Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kevin Garnett joined the cast to make the games in this dramatization of Earl Manigault authentic.

3. White Men Can't Jump (1992)

Most epic dunk by Woody Harrelson in a feature film, hands down.

4. Space Jam (1996)

Charles Barkley randomly happening upon a group of teenagers playing Basketball and asking to join them? Now that’s what we call Hollywood magic.

5. Along Came Polly (2004)

A great game of Basketball is probably the last thing one might expect to see in a Ben Stiller-directed romantic comedy, but Philip Seymour Hoffman definitely steal the show here in his mustard and ketchup colored uniform.

6. Cocktail (1988)

Tom Cruise’s b-ball skills? Actually not too shabby. This scene was filmed at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, at the base of the World Trade Center.

7. Air Bud (1997)

RIP Air Buddy, the winingest dog in the game.

8. Inspired by Jordan Presents #RISEABOVE CONDITIONS

Kids in Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods reclaim their streets for the love of the game.
