How "Crazy Rich Asians" Changed My Life?

Based on the best seller book by Kevin Kwan, "Crazy Rich Asian" stars an all Asian cast that celebrates the Asian culture and the challenges that one faces when falling in love.

1. It made me fall even more in love with writing.

After graduating college and starting a job in the "industry" can often come with challenges in continuing to work on independent project. Going from a 9-5 job from Monday through Friday, it can be hard to get the confidence to write. Or even the strength to do anything but sleep.

Seeing a story that I can relate to on the big screen inspired me all over again. It made me realized the first place the reason I loved to write. It allows me to tell stories that I often times did not hear and/or related to.

2. It touched my soul....

Not to be over dramatic or anything, but watching a full Asian cast, with a leading Asian male and Asian female falling in love was very spiritual to me. Many people may not fess up to it; especially Asians, but representation does matter. Seeing people of color does inspire people and change the way people view the worth of different ethnicities and races.

Yes, people of color can fall in love. Yes, they can be the leading roles. Yes, they can be seen as sexy and attractive. All of these things I never saw growing up. And seeing it for the first time changed my confidence in myself and the business in which I hope to be in one day.

3. It's a good romantic comedy!

I'm not saying this just because I'm Asian....or maybe?! jkjk! But, the thing with rom-com's is that the characters are usually one dimensional and are often times predictable. Although, I do have to say that often times, it does have its predictable moments, the characters are unlike any other.

They tell multiple stories, from a rich international student to a complex character who had a not so "perfect" childhood. These types of multifaceted characters are what makes it a movie worth watching and spending your money on. It creates a more real life story.
