The mere act of taking a silly picture with your fellow white girls--albeit inconsequential--hurls you into a tumult of self-questioning: What are you doing here? Are these people really your friends? Are you happy? You engage in a series of mini-protests amid your small circle of friends by refusing to indulge in their trivialities, failing to realize how easy it is for the first-grade moms to just crop you out of the picture.

You have a real skill for putting on a smile to mask your inner feelings of confusion and doubt. You know very well how ridiculous everyone looks in this picture, but you also know there's nothing to be done at this point but look happy. Is this vague ambiguity intentional, and if so, does a darker ulterior motive lie beneath the surface of those innocent baby blues? If we didn't know better, we'd think we caught a glimpse of resentment and ambition in them. Watch out, **Makenna**...

That's right, smile away, girl: that look of fulfillment on your face was definitely earned. At least five other first-grade girls were vying to be the center of attention for this particular photo, but with your deceptively sweet demeanor and winning smile, you ended up on top. First they banned _The Giver_ from book club because of a hypersexualized scene in which it was revealed the main character actually had the thoughts and urges of a healthy pubescent boy (gasp!), and recently, an anonymous voicemail was left on your phone threatening you with public shame should you dare to wear a bikini to the first-grade girls pool party. Maybe you should find some new friends or move to Phoenix or something.
